Exhaust Install - Seeking advice/tips
 

Hey Guys, I'm planning to install my F.I. exhaust tomorrow night or Saturday morning at home with no lift and no air tools. I'm curious to hear your guy's tips on installing.

My main question is, without a lift, what is the easiest way to jack up the car to make the installation possible? I've heard jacking up the back of the car alone will work, can anyone confim this? Or is it better to lift the car on one side, ie) lift the front and rear of the driver side. I will have 2 car jacks available to use.

Also, without air tools is it going to be difficult to unbolt the stock exhaust from the cats? I've heard thats where some trouble can be had.

Since you have two separate exhausts, it would probably be easier to lift one side of the car then do the other side. I personally think its going to be a pain in the *** without air tools and working under that tight space. When I saw the mechanic unbolt my stock exhaust, he seemed to struggle a bit even after using air tools, so I cant imagine how hard it will be without it. You can give it a try but I sugguest taking your car to a shop and getting it installed there. Congrats on the purchase btw, you made a wise choice :]

I did mine with my roomate and he and I did one side at a time, the exhaust isn't bad putting it on, but some of the parts are easier with another person. I would get under the car now and spray all of the bolts with PBblaster and do it once or twice tomorrow as well to help everything loosen up.

I didn't use any air tools, and for us it wasn't bad at all. I really would get someone to help me with at least removing the old exhaust if nothing else.

Great, thanks for the advice! Yea I'll have a buddy handy as well. My car only has ~3800 miles so I'm hoping things aren't too tight.

So you lifted the car one side at a time(ie driver side then passenger side), installing half the dual-exhaust each time (lengthwise)?

You will be fine with just jacking up the back. Air tools are not needed. They just make the job easier. Good luck and post pictures when you are done.

Normal hand tools, jack stands, jack and some WD40 or LiquidWrench to pull the hangers off. I did it on my back, even though I have a lift. Super easy.
