Will an aftermarket intake void my factory warranty?

As the title says. I was thinking of having a K&N short intake put on. Any thoughts?

I've got the typhoon's on, love em.
It won't void your warranty.

Suggest you read up on this article. No it will not void your warranty.

Technically

Just keep in mind that if the dealer/Nissan claims your intake caused the problem and thus declines warranty service, the burden is on you to prove that the modification did not cause the failure.

So while legally it might work out for you in the end, it could be expensive, and the dealer/Nissan likely has the money, time, and resources to wait you out in court.

Just something to think about!

It's a simple enough upgrade. Keep the stock parts and just re-install them should something go wrong before you head to the dealership.

I had Mazdaspeed intakes on my Mazda3 (installed at dealer actually) and they refused warranty work because they said the intake was damaged and it allowed dirt into the MAF (it did have a hole in the piping likely from a high curb and the bad filter design). They wanted to charge me 1k for the MAF sensor and new intake setup. I was able to clean MAF and replace intake for $50 but regardless it CAN backfire.

Good point mustang. I just would represent myself in court or arbitration. Many people would be surprised how many car manufacturers will bow down to a customer willing to fight them in court. This happened to me in my case against Toyota.I sued under protections from the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act. Crazy? Yes it was, but all they (Toyota) brought to the table was a paralegal. The chances stacked in my favor for sure. Your point is worth serious contemplation to anyone modding their car however. Thanks for the clarification....I did make it sound that we are innocent until proven guilty. Good Catch!
