Awesome, post a video too. Are you going with the factory OEM g37 mid-pipe too?

I think it has to do with the exhaust configuration. The 350s single pipe system vs the 370's dual pipe system. One exhaust i know for the 370 that has a single pipe system is 5zigen. I think this might be the sound you're looking for.

Yes it is but that's not the reason why it sounds different.

Good question op, Well i would say the nismo z still sounds great. I wonder if the s tune nismo system would bring back that sound. Someone that has heard the s-tune should chime in.

It can happen with any car. I think it's more common on cars that are not tuned well. Too much unburned fuel collecting in the catalyst can lead to deterioration and eventually it will blow out.

It also happens to some OEM cats. One of the catalysts blew out on my girlfriend's CLK 500 when she hit 70k miles. Covered under warranty (OEM emissions system is covered to 80k per federal law).

Point is, any name brand cats are no more risky than factory, and a fail of a tune is the main reason, not the HFCs.

Wonder if the 350z exhaust could be retrofitted on the 370z? Realizing some cutting and modifications would be necessary.

IMO, it's definitely the muffler portion that changes the sound of the 370. Once you put that G37 muffler on, the typical "VQ" sound comes in loud and clear.

For the life of me, I can't understand why Nissan made the exhaust so quiet. My wife's stock Mazdaspeed3 sounds like a monster next to a stock 370.
