Nissan 370Z Forum

If you already had a full exhaust and added G3's..

I did the opposite... G3's before exhaust and I was impressed. Added a CBE and the power came like whoa! Driving a stock Z is depressing to me now.

At first I had FI Long Tubes and custom straight piping to the stock muffler with k&n drop in filters plus an Uprev tune. Afterward I switched to a real catback and got the Meisterschaft exhaust. I dynoed after, now I know the tune was set for the straight pipes but the ca was suffocating big time. After adding Injen Long Tubes I got good power through the whole powerband and probably will get more once I get a retune.

looked into the Injens, but it's just to much water around here for that... especially where I am living now there are A LOT of low spots around here.

I've heard good things about them... but the whole water thing is to much.

B1ades has got the Stillen G3 and they look, sound and feel amazing. I must be honest I wasn't expecting it when he hit the gas, huge difference over the stock. The injens sit lower than the Stillens.

You still gotta take it for a spin bro.

Probably slower and not as loud as your car, but you can still hear the difference from the intakes.

wasn't takeda making a new long tube style intake that had a single larger filter? Whatever happened to that?

Would/did anyone get a tune after just the gen3? Or would it be better to wait until you got more mods?

It would be a waste of money to get a tune with just intakes... this car seems to respond very well to mods. I am going to get all the NA power mods and then get the car tuned myself. It's not cheap to get a tune so I want to make it count.

This is what I'm doing as well.

Intake - Needed (Have K&N's and MAF tubes right now, waiting for full intake)
Pulleys - Check
Oil Cooler - Check
Headers - Check
Exhaust - Check

Last mod needed before tune.

Yeah, I need to get an oil cooler, but since I don't track the car, i'm not going to worry to much about it right now... just getting on the car here and there is fine for me... when I can afford it i'll go with the Z1 25 row cooler.

In my opinion as well as others, I would get the car tuned after installing G3 intakes. When I had my car tuned, the stock tune with G3s would run leaner than I am comfortable with and there was also some detonation which is something others have experienced as well.

After the tune, my A/F ratio was nice and safe across the board, the car ran smoother and I picked up another 5whp.

This is what I thought as well but I had concerns with what Christian370z said below...

This was my main concern will the engine be safe as a daily driver with the G3's and no tune until I get the other mods mentioned about and tune it which could be months???

Who has had any issues or detontation running the G3's with no tune?

How long have most of you guys been riding your Z's with G3's and no tune?
