So yeah that last session I went out first in a 997 GT3RS on Cup tires. What an amazing piece of machinery. Unreal. So the Z had pretty big shoes to fill when I went out with it soon after. I gotta say that obviously it wasn't anywhere as quick, but it did not disappoint.

Seems like the Stillen unit is enough to keep temperatures around 260-270. It was 90+ degrees in the sun though so you have to take that into account. When I left the track, the cars thermometer for exterior temp read 102 degrees and only dropped 3 degrees when I got on the highway. I think a thicker core will do the trick. I am not going to be running dual coolers. I think a single unit will work. You should all make up your minds. The Stillen kit kicks *** in my opinion. I do wish the core was a bit bigger or thicker though, maybe it would be cool for STILLEN to offer a different core for us folks in warmer climates.

Brakes: The rotors got destroyed in three laps with some hard hard braking. They overheated, so did my fluid I think. I'm going to have to re-do the entire brake system with fluid, rotors and pads for the track. No more of this nonsense, it was dangerous to lose all braking. It felt like the car was on ice, just sliding as I applied the brakes and the pedal went through the floor. Then after it cooled a bit, I got most of my braking back.

3 Laps into session 1

Power: It feels strong, but it needs more low end grunt. I tried staying in 3rd through most of the infield, but I don't know if that makes me happy just yet. If I could carry more speed through the corners, It would be alright, but I cant just yet. Almost all of the cars in advance solo had through passing me on the straights, I had to get off the throttle. I felt like the GT3 was a good bit faster, the top end was so nice, awesome motor.

Suspension: Car stays pretty flat for a stock suspension that is so nice. However, this will be changed soon. Needs swaybars, needs a lot more stiffness. Definitely will be buying every chassis stiffening bit I can get my hands on.

Tires: These things actually held up and held on till the end. They aren't bad for stock street tires. Nothing to write home about though. I will be getting a separate set with Toyos or something... R888's may do the trick, or some NT05's.

Josh, how much for that AP kit again ? May be worth it after all

Oh and you can all thank mightybobo for me not posting track videos up. :P

My Z and our other car today. 997 GT3 RS. They made friends and liked each other...hopefully we will have a nice litter of GT370RZ's soon.

Number 111 baby, they made me go back to the pits to put on a number (my normal club doesnt require one) so I picked the easiest number to tape I could think of...1 and 11 were taken.

And here are some I took when I got free time.

I didn't retouch these in any way yet. If anyone wants to fix one or two up I would appreciate it

Videos later.

Really good info. Those rotors look completely shot.

Did you get the ice mode with the ABS before the hard core fade started? The brakes really shouldn't give out that easy, just doesn't seem right. Soft metal makeup in the rotors?

Yes I did, it seems almost like everything was fine until that ONE big stop where it did that. The brakes went after that. Very interesting.

One of the journalist, and I have forgotten who was road testing it, ran into this problem. I believe the entire brake pads separated as well, but the rotors definitely went to hell.

Nice pics = rep point

I tracked my 350z quite a bit. I ran stock rotors, SS lines, ATE super blue fluid, and Hawk 9012 blue all the way around...AND it had the wimpy brakes...brakes were Excellent all day long...and they were usually 30 min sessions..I wouldn't advise the 9012 (though i think they discontiunued them) But i think the Hawk DTCs would be good.

Before any track day i changed the oil. Ran HP+ brakes on the street, so i swapped in the 9012 the day before the event, then bled the brakes system, then went out to bed the pads in. Every event i had no brake troubles.

On another note...i really like the sound of your car...geez. Im gunna go stillen all the way as well...but i want test pipes. I had that same hiss that you get on the de-revv on my 350z (equipped w/ headers, TP, CBE), some people thought it was a BOV it was so loud..LOL.

I used ATE Super Blue and Hawk HP+ at the autocross and the problem was exactly the same. It seems to be that once the heat buildup reaches the calipers it goes to hell. Autocross isn't quite as punishing as track because you get 10 minutes of cool down between runs, but once the heat soaks in there it's all done. So much for the sport brakes, I'm beginning to think that the smaller floating caliper on the base model might work better than this sh!t.

Your right...once you fluid is hot you gotta have the SS lines...rubber lines are no good once temps get extreme.

^lol no. Stock lines stretch, but not like that...

Im thinking its more along the lines of terrible rotors. I feel like the rotors suck so bad that they are causing the whole system to reach temperatures that none of it is designed to see. I used ATE Super Blue this time around too and I'm pretty sure I boiled the crap out of it in those instances. I think that after this point the rotors also get all scored and that makes things even worst.
