Exhaust flange gaskets....
I was told that if i use the gaskets that Berk supplied with the exhaust, they will blow out and i should us all OEM gaskets.
The OEM gaskets are a smaller inner diameter than the Berk exhaust. Question #1: Is the story about the non-OEM gaskets blowing out true, or horse sh*t? Question #2: If i use a gasket with a slightly smaller diameter than the inside of the piping, will it affect performance and/or sound? Thanks! |
Honestly man i'm not sure about the Berk's. I have the ART pipes and i've been on them for about 500 miles and had no issues thus far.
Here is the problem, as you asked... yes it will affect performance. What I would do is take the old gasket, and mark the circle on the OE one and then dremel it out with a sanding drum. That's probably your best best IMO. To add to this, I had messed up my gaskets from my ART pipes, but not following my CBE instructions, so I had to go search for new ones... I was amazed by the diameter difference. I believe pretty much all aftermarket exhausts are 2.5" i'm not sure about OE... I want to say 1.75" but i'm not sure. Either way, if disrupts airflow and will indeed inhibit performance... if only by a small margin, but who wants that? |
