Exhaust for my 370z

Im thinking about getting an exhaust for my 09 370z, I have looked at videos after videos of different exhausts, I have narrowed it down to two....A borla exhaust or a Greddy....I like them both and there both expensive as ****, which one do you guys think would be better?

Greddy

Borla

Exhausts wont exactly sound the same as a video in person...

A better way to look at is ask yourself, "What do I want my exhaust to do?"
  • Louder
  • Deeper
  • Raspier
  • Quieter
  • More Exotic Sounding
  • More Powerful

Then figure out your budget of how much you will Actually be willing to spend, then the answers to those two questions can help you decide which one is best for you... Be it one of those two, or another brands...

1. There is a Search feature on the forum, I highly recommend using it.

2. There is an entire Tech Area devoted to Intake/Exhaust. Highly recommend researching that section.

And yes, I myself have Fast Intentions. Love it.

Yes most of us are running F.I. exhausts b/c it is a great product and has the best gains so far. That is not cheap either. Check out the search tab there are plenty of threads on this.

:iagree:

Fast Intentions

- Most Dyno Proven gains
- Somewhat more expensive than most (Still under HKS or Amuse)
- Most Options in terms of customizing what setup you want.
- EXCELLENT Customer Service
- Made in USA
- Losts of satisfied customers, videos, reviews, dynos to research

Again, Search + Tech Area = Your Friend.

As far as intakes, you can do it with cost in mind and do drop in filters and maf tubes. Or you can go full up CAI like Stillen Gen III or Z1 or the new Takedas coming out soon...

It's up to user preference on whats important to you.

Upgrading a car will be expensive depending on what you go for. Even after all the discounts that I have received for my recent purchases of cai, lth, cbe, nst aod pulley, jwt clutch flywheel combo, re-11 tires and a tune over 6gs. So I would start with a budget first. What I did is just wait till I did everything at once instead of little by little it was just easier this way not to mention if I decide to change my mind half way down while saving it works out.

SEARCH BAR = WINNING
REPETITIVE QUESTION ASKING = FAILING
no hate intended

I'm already @ $10.5k invested after spending $35 to buy the damn car.

But with the prices my parts should have been... I'd be closer to $20k so I really can't complain. :rofl2: :happydance:

Lol Yeah, you want all go. Show can wait.

Out of those 2 I would choose neither. There are just sooooo many better options out there.

Maybe. It's like women. Some like blonds. Some like brunettes. Some like redheads. If you want to be like everyone else and tend to find comfort in knowing most people won't question your decisions, get the F.I. (not slamming the F.I., as I'm sure it's well built, sounds great and bumps horsepower nicely).

If you like to make your own choices, and sometimes like to have things that are a bit unique from the masses, pick your own choice. You may decide the F.I. is the one for you, and that's cool. Seems that everyone that has it loves it, so it must be really good. Or you may end up with something most of us don't own, and that's cool too.

I really like the Borla. No rasp, no drone, just deep Borla growl that is consistent, yet not overbearing.

Im leaning toward fast intentions

DO you think the extra $300 with be worth the 18 inch resonator?

F.I. Exhaust it worth the cost no matter what setup you want, it's just you have to decide how you want it. Do you want volume, or not? Do you want a certain tone? All that helps you decide...

noel61 09-03-2011 12:31 PM

sound

ya true, Im wanting to notice a difference, I mean not to to loud like straight pipes but one that sounds good. On my acura I had a magna flow resonator and its sounded pretty good..What is the biggest difference between the 16’’ and the 18’’ resonator?

noel61 09-03-2011 12:52 PM

should I get the carbon exhaust version of the F.I. or the stainless steal??

You mean 12 and 18"?

Volume/Tone. The 12" will have a slightly higher pitched tone, and more overall volume than the 18" resonator will give you. This can still be further refined with the choice of Carbon Fiber or Stainless Steel Cannisters.

SS will have a deeper tone and still more muffling ability.

CF cans will have a slightly more exotic sound to them, with a bit more volume due to the thinner walls.

thanks!

I heard FI has some drone, so I got Tanabe, no drone in the 3-4k rpm range, it is not
fun ride to be in vehicle for hundreds of miles listening to exhaust drone, and I am
half deaf, sure FI is a great exhaust, but does it have drone?????????

"Drone" is subjective. What you might consider drone, someone else may not. And vis versa. All exhausts will experience a 'drone' effect in the realm of 2k rpms because of the frequency of that powerband. It's really unavoidable, but it's something you accept. And honestly, I'm not going to knock any exhaust that looks great to me, gives me great gains, and only has a sound I might dislike at a small fraction of the powerband. If I don't like the sound in that area, switch to a different gear. Problem solved...
