Fast Intentions Resonated HFCs info?
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows anythign about gains form just the FI Resonated HFCs. I'm reading that HFCs give great feel-able gains and have read a lot about the Stillen and Berk HFCs. I am interested in the FI Resonated ones though for the lower volume. I can't find any reviews or dyno information for just the HFCs. Some people were saying Berk and Stillen had better gains because they used 200 cell vs 300 cell steel or something. If anyone has any info, that would be great. I'm looking for stealthy gains. Thanks! |

Dude...I know you are trying to search, but it's pretty well accepted that F.I. has the highest CBE gains, while ART pipes make more power than any other TP or HFC. The more cells, the more stuff is in the way of airflow which is why people probably told you that the 200 cell will give you more gains. I don't know about other TP's and most everyone is going to vouch for what they have as the best.
The best thing to do is start at the beginning of each forum and look at each page and see what others have gained or not gained from each product. Search on youtube... there's videos of just about all exhausts, some of them on a dyno or with dyno numbers and some just giving you sound clips and videos. F.I. is a great company who makes great products and that is why they have about an 8-12 week waiting period. With the CBE they made 20 whp and about 11 wtq ... with their test pipes they made about 8 more hp and I don't recall how much wtq. Again... searching is the best way to go about it. You even said yourself the other day you were just going to drive the car for a while and break it in before you decided what you wanted to do. That is the smarter thing to do, so while you're at it, save your money and buy what you want, but look at the research, reviews and dyno charts. Most of us have done it. No one can tell you what YOU will like for YOUR car or YOUR taste or what is to loud to YOU. |

Yeah, I've been searching and have read a lot on the Berk and Stillen HFCs. I just haven't seen much on the FI HFCs. I like the fat that they are resonated for lower volume, but haven't found reviews on them so I was just wondering if there really was that much of a disparity between them and other HFCs.
You're right, I do plan to drive around stock for a while, but these forums are addictive. I think I've pretty much narrowed it down though. Motordyne ART pipes seem to be the best for gains so i am waiting to see what their catted exhaust will be like (I don't want cop attracting fumes). Otherwise, FI seems to have great gains for their exhaust and have the best undercover options with their 18" resonated and resonated HFCs. Their R HFCs are pricey thoguh so I was wondering if their gains really were much less than the others since the 18" resonators may compensate for the noise of the other HFCs in terms of volume. I know I've been all over the place asking a ton of questions. Sorry if I am bugging you, but thanks for a lot of your input. It has been very helpful. |

I'm not worried about anyone "bugging" me... I just want to make sure that you understand that just because one person or 10 people like a particular product that you yourself will like it. Some people buy an exhaust for instance and then completely HATE it and wind up losing hundreds of dollars on it.
Really the best thing to do is what others have said is to go to meets and listen to different set-ups. When you mod a car, you are going to get a cops attention. The best thing to do there is like I had told you before ... find someone in your area that will be willing to help you out if you get an inspection ticket. As far as the cell count, I can't answer that because I have no clue. I've never used HFC's... ALWAYS used test pipes. It stands to reason that the more cells, the better filtration and therefore less likely to throw a CEL. Tuning the car will often times cure a CEL, but even if not, there are other things you can do to help with that. |

That's what happens with modding. You have to find a place where you are comfortable saying ok that's good enough and then LEAVE IT otherwise you'll have 10's of thousands of dollars wrapped up in a car you don't even like anymore.

Yes, a 300 cell is LESS likely to throw a CEL due to more cells = more exhaust gasses converted.

I have a set I've used for about 5K miles that im putting up for sale shortly. Ran them with the FI 18" resonated exhaust. They are fantastic cats, and did cut down a lot on drone + smoothed out the sound over non-resonated Berks. I noticed no power changes over non-resonated HFC's. If you have any q's or are possibly interested, PM me.

You will see a big increase in throttle response throughout the entire RPM range. This combination will yield over 25-28 RWH & over 20 FT LBS of torque.
Did you get my response to your PM's? Anytime you want, please do not hesitate to call me... Thanks, Tony

One of the things people tell me about the headers is they are suprised at how fast the engine revs. Really high, really quick. But not ridiculously loud. Just clean.

I heard they were quite loud. It doesn't matter though... for emissions there is just no way I could ever do something like that without massive work every 2 years
