damn I hate this sound!

hey guys, I've been running my car with my AP CBE and ERZ HFC for about a week and I can't stand to this sound anymore! My middle pipes are sitting too low that it keeps hitting that metal bracing piece right below the middle pipes. Sometimes they rattle each other so hard. What should I do? I was thinking to heat wrap them and brace it with hose clamps but heat wrap costs like $45 and I was like h*ll no lol. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks :tiphat:

It might be 45.00, but if it does the job right... it will be worth it.

You can put it back up on jack stands and just take a look. Sounds like somethings hitting a crossmember, should be easy enough to spot it

LOL thought this was a HISS thread.. Try adjusting the system again, or bending the cross member a .5 inch or so to clear. I had to bend mine for my exhaust to clear. :/

I would return them. Probably the next day. Ziiiing.

going to do that tonight bro :)

I have wrap on my exhaust near the cross member. Had to do this with my 350 also. But you can get enough heat wrap for only $15 at a local auto store.

haha bro, when you look at the video carefully, camera guy actually got scared when I started the car. That's how LOUD it was. Literally the whole place was shaking. NO WAY haha. Even myself got so scared from starting the car. That's how LOUD it was LOL my cellphone couldn't even catch the sound well because it was way too loud :)

haha damn i gotta hear that in person, if i get some free time i'm taking everything off to the headers. i was thinking the other day about having LTHs and running short muffler sections to each side and bringing them out in the large area on the end of each side skirt (i think that would look sick). anyway did you get the rattle straightened out?

nah man..I tried to go underneath my car but I couldn't..too low lol my body won't go in haha. I don't have jack tool to jack up my car T^T gotta go to shop tonight I think :)

I have the same problem, I'm lowered on swifts. I use the 56" 2 piece race ramps or the factory crank jack to lift it. Give the jack a try, put in on a stand then do the other side.

Motordyne 09-02-2011 09:49 AM

Put the car on a lift
Place a 3/4" thick wood spacer between the exhaust pipes and the brace.
Losen up the exhaust flange bolts all over the exhaust.
Retighten up all the same exhaust flange bolts.
Remove the wood spacer and put the Z back on the ground.

You should now have more clearance.

That should do it.

I had the same problem. Heat wrap was the only solution. Half dozen layers at the mid section brace, and wrapped the sways near the tail, locking in place with band clamps on either end.
