Why doesn't the Z exhaust note :purrrr: like the G37
Despite them having the same motor, I've been wondering why the exhaust notes differ quite a bit. While the Z sounds sort of like loud noise, the G37 and FX50's have this deep purrr that I personally think sounds nice
This is what I mean with G's: [ |
^^ sounds pretty similar to a 370 with exhaust?

The Z is just meaner by nature.

1. It says in the title "Custom Exhaust" so thats not stock, and even as it is, it sounds just like a 370. 2. Different combinations of resonators/muffler packing material/pipe lengths/bends all contribute to the exhaust note... Not sure where you're seeing the two sound drastically different, and I dunno if I'd ever say the Z's exhaust is 'noise' maybe in a completely non-resonated setup, but it's not noise then, it's power. |
Sorry for the poor choice in wording for the Z exhaust note but I can always tell if it's a G37/FX50 driving by it's very noticeable purrrr exhaust note. Sort of like how you can always tell when a WRX/STI is rolling through. With the Z, I don't hear much of, if at all, that nice purrr from the Infiniti's. Maybe my hearing is going.

sounds like a proper true dual, no x or h.
also i'd hate it if that noise came from my car. |
u can always doda washer mod...

The 370z is super quiet. The 350z had a nice rumble maybe like the g37. I don't know why Nissan would make the 370z sound like a Lexus.

Straight pipes should please you ;)

I like how the kids across the street completely stop what they're doing to stare at the jackass who's revving his engine in his driveway for no reason.

Op I know exactly what you mean. That was the first question I asked my salesmen. He said "no they def sound the same" to which I replied "no they def don't sound the same." Needless to say, I never got a straight answer.

Having just come from an '08 G37S to an '11 Z, I honestly can't hear any discernable difference. To me they both have a very sophisticated rumble to them.

damn dude is fat ... lol im j/k

If you want to hear the exhaust, put something near the back side of your car. For whatever reason, when my bicycle is on the back of the car. The exhaust would just change note and turn super noisy, it would start to drone. At first I thought my exhaust was loose, turns out either the bike carrier or the bicycle itself is changing the exhaust and its frequency. It's the weirdest thing given the 5-6" gap at the exhaust tip
