Quick question

I have the Fast Intentions exhaust and just ordered the Stillen Gen 3 intakes. When I put the intakes on, will it be absolutely necessary to get a tune or

I have the Fast Intentions exhaust and just ordered the Stillen Gen 3 intakes. When I put the intakes on, will it be absolutely necessary to get a tune or do you think it will be fine. I will be getting a tune in the future, but just don't have the means to right now and don't want to be too leaned out.

you should be fine, but get a tune sooner then later. i have G3 intakes and a CNT CBE, no tune, yet.

No tune nesseceary unless your anal about extracting every bit of power. Honestly if your gonna continue modding with N/A mods. Get all the bolt ons them pay for a tune. Rather than mod, tune, mod, tune... It gets costly if you do it like that.

Generally you're able to get away with the Gen 3 intakes, cat-back exhaust and EITHER HFC/TP or headers. When you run headers AND HFCs or Test Pipes, you'll be in a lean situation and tuning is mandatory.

That being said, most will go UpRev if they have Gen 3's, cat-back and HFCs, which will dial in the A/F ratio, and pick up 8-10whp..

id say yeah get a tune.

If you dont want to dyno tune get a base map tune for your mods

I had John @ Z1 do a base map tune for my 2 mods and it made the car run quite alot smoother. Its actaully quite disappointing to think how long I drove around with it before.

When I get some other mods added on, i'll be taking the car back to John and he will Dyno tune it. The same uprev license will be used. might cost a bit more to get it done this way (2 stages) vs just a full dyno tune, but i think its well worth it.

Will there be a fix for the MAF sensor like AEM has for their intakes?

You can do enough with the airflow on a full set of bolt-on's to bring the car out of the range where it can adapt and run lean. The Z runs a very adaptive ECU, but it can only do much. We've seen the trigger being the combination of the headers and removing the factory cats.

Yes, agree with your position of get the mods you're going to do, then tune for maximum $$ savings. But remember part of what you're paying for in the tune is the license itself, which UpRev runs $300. Anything beyond that, and you're just paying for dyno and tuning time, so it gets less expensive.

If you're really wanting to geek out and go to town, you can also get the Tuner version of UpRev, and you can tweak most things yourself. More expensive route? Absolutely.. but a lot of enthusiasts enjoy learning the details of tuning, and UpRev's tuner version will do just that. It's not the full package that a tuning shop will get, but you have enough leeway to hang yourself if you're not careful.

That's what a tune is for. Those MAF signal modifiers are a kludge and unnecessary if you just get a tune anyways.
