Really depends on your taste for the volume. I went with the 18" because I didnt want it too loud, also went with HFC's non resonated. I went with the HFC's because I want to pass emissions when needed without having to switch cats back.... As far as the volume goes, when I first got it installed, I thought it sounded excellent and almost too loud for my taste, after a hundred miles or so it settles down a little and now I think its perfect. Somewhat quiet/tame when driving normal and roars when WOT... Its a tough call to make unless you can actually be in a car that has the different options available.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but I thought that with the FI exhaust (without the HFC) it still uses the normal CATs and so you should still pass the emissions? What would you have to switch out just to pass emissions?

If you just buy the CBE then yea you use your stock cats, thats why its called a "Cat-Back exhaust. The only time you would have to switch to pass emissions is if you remove the stock cats ans install Test Pipes. But even with Test Pipes the car will still pass an inspection as long as the CEL is not on. It could possibly fail a visual but thats only if they guy doing the inspection is real anal.

+1 up above. But i have been told that the car wont pass emissions with test pipes... Either way, didnt want to chance it. The reason I even mentioned it was because I thought you were thinking of definitely getting either HFC's or Test Pipes...

I'm pretty sure CT is just like NY. The emission stations dont run the cars on dynos or stick a sniffer in the muffler. So as long as the CEL is not on she should pass.
