Stillen headers question

Hey all I know that there have been many post on this forum about headers so please don't bash me about this lol, I'm currently weighing wether or not to get headres, my current mods are amuse stti exuast motordyne xyz pipe motordyne ART pipes r2c intake. I have a few questions before I decide on headrs

Will they make the car louder? And if so is it good loud or bad loud lol and if they make the car louder is it in higher RPM or even when you are cruising? And my other question is are the gains worth the $$ I'll be spending cuz from what I have been reading I am seeing mixed results any feedback from you guys will be very helpful :tiphat:

Hey man, I bought the Stillen headers and I really didn’t notice a difference but that is just me. I have a Berk HFC and a Berk Exhaust installed. With the Stillen headers installed my Berk exhaust doesn’t fit right, as the stillen headers push the Berk exhaust back and down. I called Berk about this and they told me that the Stillen headers makes my exhaust not fit correctly. He also told me that they don’t offer Berk Headers because the stock headers that come on the car are all ready good. And if they made new ones they would want to make it worth it for people to buy and they haven’t been able too. Also when I took off the stock headers they looked just like the Stillen ones. Most times you get better HP out of good headers because all the piping in aftermarket headers are all the same length. If they differ in length then you get messed up air flow. Getting all the same length in your headers allow for the exhaust to all come together at the same time which I am sure that you know. The stock 370z header is an equal length header.

To be honest I wish I hadn’t bought them and if they didn’t cost so much to remove them I would have by now. In the end though it all comes down to what you like and what you want. As fare as knowing if they add more HP I have no idea. People say they got better HP out of them but now that I have them I don’t want them.

The only thing that really made a difference in sound was when I put on my HFCs. I had first put in the headers with my stock NISMO exhaust and the tone didn't change at all to me. Once I put on the HFC it made a big difference and once I put on my Berk Exhaust I was super happy with the sound. But I really wish I hadn’t bought the Headers even though I did get a good deal from a forum member on here. That is my two cents.

Have you looked into Long Tube Headers? They will give you gains, without any excess exhaust noise.

I know people in CA who have had them and still passed emissions. :stirthepot: However if the local cop busts you, you just take the fix it ticket to certain places and they hook you up. Just depends on if you're willing to do that.

But understandable for Cali residents.

Lth ftw.

LTHs or keep the stock manifolds (which aren't too bad for stock).

zuperman 370 07-21-2011 12:34 AM

Can I go with LTH if I have the motordyne ART pipes or would I have to remove the art pipes to have the LTH fixed?

LTH replace both the stock exhaust manifold and the cat. Therefore, you would need to remove the ART pipes to fit the LTHs and then the LTHs would bolt directly up to your exhaust.
