Default Ptune Motorsports 370z Titanium Catback - Feedback Requested

07/22
Hey guys, we have another quick update

We have completed the testing of our version 2 of the titanium exhaust. Based on the feedback we received from 370z owners, we decided to make the exhaust quieted down a bit to be more suitable for daily driving. At this point we have finished up all of our research and will be finalizing our final version of this exhaust shortly. To help cater towards all types of enthusiasts, we are now planning on releasing two different types of exhausts, one for street use and another for track use. Stay tuned and we will have our update on both types of exhausts in the coming weeks!

Below are fly by and idle videos of our new version of the exhaust:

Hey guys, quick update

We are scheduled to test our new version exhaust. We added two resonators and silencer. Video and dyno result will be up shortly. Please Stay tuned.

Hey guys, my name is Pan and I am from a company called Ptune Motorsports. We are a young company which was established earlier this year, whose main goal is to develop tailor-made performance parts for specific vehicles. I will post more of our info about us once we become a sponsor of the370z.com.

Currently, we are working on making an exhaust for the 370z. At this point, we are going to the exhaust in both stainless and titanium to 370z owners. After numerous design changes and testing, we have our finished up our first production prototype titanium exhaust for the 370z. The exhaust is a full replacement, which means it replaces the stock Y pipe, midpipe, and exhaust with a 2 1/2” X pipe and dual muffler setup. Our titanium exhaust currently weighs around 22lbs(10kg), which is approximately a total weight savings of 32lbs(the stock exhaust weight around 54lb).

Here are a few pictures and videos we made few days ago:

We are are still working on our web portal, and are looking to become a site sponsor once our site is operational.

Please feel free to leave comment to let us know what you guys think. We want to hear your feedback to help us finalize our product to bring out the best exhaust offering for the 370z.

~Pan

Sounds great. Hoping it's not too loud when paired with pipes or HFC.

I personally find it too loud/tinny for my taste. I prefer a resonated exhaust. Just my opinion... The weight is a nice advantage though. Any idea on pricing?

Our main concern at this point is also the actual loudness/tinniness of the exhaust. We like the actual grunt the exhaust has, it's just amplified a little too much for our tastes. Currently, we're looking at two options to help in that regards: 1) we're looking to change the mufflers a bit by adding more sound insulation to help keep the volume down and 2) adding resonators to help aid in smoothing out the tone of the exhaust. At this point, we're still determining the best spot to place the resonators, as we don't want to encounter any issues with clearing/scraping the actual frame of the car with the resonator placement.

We are still working on getting the price set up, as we'll have to make our final changes to the design before locking down our cost per unit. At this point, we are targeting to keep the full titanium setup under 3k.

I really like the way the x-pipe is designed. Most company's merge two pipes into one larger one and call it an x-pipe. Please dont change that part, but the mufflers do sound a little fart canny.

We are still figuring out the final price on the stainless, but we are shooting for around $1200 shipped for the final product. On our prototype, the stainless exhaust had a nice deep tone and was at a pretty quiet for a dual with no resonator; we should have some videos up for the stainless product as well. We have also dyno'd our products and have some ballpark figures, but we won't release numbers until we have our finalized production exhausts dyno'd.

Cheers!

I think I would make it 4 miles in CA before being pulled over for having an exhaust that was too loud with that Ti setup.

I think more insulated mufflers would be the best option, but resonators could work as a last resort. It would even be cool to give two options to customers; One with just mufflers non-resonated, one with resonators.

I must say Ptune is taking on a big task to control the volume with a titanium unit. Props to bringing something new to the community.

^ hmm...i wonder if that's why japan does a single pipe into the muffler? resonance / exhaust noise changes if the x-pipe / dual in pipe configuration is used?
