Could be computer has not learned the change in air/fuel. You could unhook battery for a few minutes to force a reset or keep driving and wait for computer to adjust.

Redline the car a few times. The ecu will adjust very quick.

There is a better way to reset the ECU and force it to learn the new mods and adjust the fuel/timing trims.

Quote:
Read the process a few times before you try to do this its ALL ABOUT TIMING:

1) With the key in your pocket/car, push the Engine Start button TWICE (so the car is fully on, but not started)
2) Within three seconds of the car "ON" (again NOT started), Floor (all the way down) and Release the gas pedal fully 5 times within 5 seconds. Do not do this too fast.. 1..2..3..4..5
3) Wait 7 seconds then floor the gas pedal and hold for 10 seconds. After that 10 seconds the Check Engine Light will start to blink slowly.
4) Release the pedal and floor it down once again and hold for 10 seconds. After these 10 seconds the check engine light will disappear then begin to flash much more rapidly. After you have done the following turn the car off and then back on. The ECU is now reset!!
This way, you don't have to reset the windows or the clock.

The A/C should be automaticly turned off when the ecu reads wot. Or at least that's what I've been told.

If you don't know how to reset the ECU I can help you out with it.

Is this the same as disconnecting the battery and hitting the brakes several times? I dont mind reseting the windows.

How true is this and where did you read about this? This is very interesting and with the technology that is put into cars now a days I wouldn't be surprised....Would like to hear more or read up on this

I know the A/C compressor being turned off automatically at WOT was a feature on my '99 Trans Am, surely 10 years later on a nice import car they'd have thought of the same (or a similar) feature, but I haven't seen any mfg data or testing that backs up whether this actually happens.

4 hp is within the typical margin of error. If AC was robbing you of power at wot, the parasitic loss from the belt having to drive the ac compressor would be more than 4 hp. I would hazard a guess to say it would be more in the range of 10-15. Unless you did like 5 dynos, all consistently say 300, then with AC 5 more all consistently 296... Yeah, then that would be the parasitic loss. And if so, 4 whp is nothing anyone would notice, and definitely not a reason to spout why you might have 'lost' a 'race' -- I say that cause Ive heard that excuse before :P

I noticed the same thing after I installed my intakes and cbe. I didn't disconnect the battery when I installed them. After about a week I decided to disconnect the battery to reset the ECU completely. After about 100 miles or so, the power loss I experienced was gone and all was good again

I also have a theory that some of the power loss "felt" is somewhat in the mind. When you're used to the sound of your car at certain RPMs and all of a sudden you go install intake/exhaust, I think you need to give your brain some time to adjust as well to the new sound per RPMs if you get what I'm saying.

Yeah most of the time the butt dyno is dead wrong, and the ear dyno is a big part of the equation. It always seems like I lose ~20hp in the upper range when I turn up Pandora in my car, because the music is deadening my ability to hear all the higher-pitch frequencies of the engine sound

Does that really work? I am going to try it once I get my mods installed. Feels like you are entering a cheat for a video game lol.
