neither. just get drop ins and if you really want, post maf tubes and call it a day. 80-90% of the gains of a CAI w/far less hassle and/or potential issues with a/f ratios or water ingestion.

cheap is hard unless like what FL 4Motion says. or buy used.
easy? im assuming install. short ram intake is very easy install. takes less then 1 hr by yourself with no experience.
i got k&n myself and its easy to install. i think i saw used on this fourm before for pretty cheap

Skip the short ram. Long tube or drop-in's should be your only two choices. Sorry to disappoint, but there are very few "cheap" power adder mods for this car.

Yeah, I've got Injen long tube CAI's. The long tube CAI's like Injen, Stillen Gen3, and AAM, are great because they bring colder air from outside the engine compartment for better air/fuel mixture, and they're less sound-restrictive so they sound awesome at higher revs.

Short rams are ok, but they still feed the engine pretty hot air.

Drop in filters are less restrictive filters, so that more air gets into the engine, but they give you less power than CAI's and don't improve the sound on their own. However, it's a lot easier to drop in a filter now and then than it is to remove the front bumper to replace the air filters on long tube intakes.

no short ram intake. just get yourself used to the idea that your front bumper has to come off and you have to spend a couple hundred dollars more. anything worth doing is worht doing right. i was in the exact same position as you a month ago. didnt want to take my brand new car apart and didnt want to spend a ton of money. two weeks later after reading every thread on the forum of testimonials, opinions and more importantly, the facts about intakes both sri and cai. drop ins are great but lets face it, they dont sound, look or perform as well as a CAI.

all of the above are scientific facts. i did the research myself and i was wearing a white lab coat with goggles and had a clip board at the time. there were test tubes and everything. no but seriously think about it.

I say drop ins if you want much cheaper/easier and willing to sacrifice a little hp and sound. You want the best of the best get the Stillen G3.

I think I saw (on here) a 16 hp gain from drop in's and post maf tubes vs about 20 for the long tubes... some guys want that extra 4 ponies.... I myself would rather take a few things out of the car to lessen the weight, get the drop-ins and not have to take the entire front off of the car. I do agree however that the SRI's are not likely to do as well since the heat from the engine won't give it the coldest air possible... BUT I also haven't seen any dynos from the SRI's... maybe someone else has?

once again guys thanks. i might just do drop in's since it looks like i will be spending a grand at least on my exhaust
