ticking sound in hatch area when car is hot

Does anyone have any idea why I hear this ticking/rattling sound in the hatch area when the car is hot? I have tried to figure out exactly where it is

Default ticking sound in hatch area when car is hot

Does anyone have any idea why I hear this ticking/rattling sound in the hatch area when the car is hot? I have tried to figure out exactly where it is coming from and not able to. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I thought I was the only one! Just recently started happening since I park my car outside at work and its been steady 95F or higher the past week.

Relax Guys its just metal cooling off. You see when it becomes hot rapidly or cools rapidly not all metal surface gets the same temp there fore it expands differently, somewhere its hotter somewhere its cooler so it cracks. But dont worry these cracks are soo small u need a high microscope to see them, therefore its all good

I've noticed a random ticking/creaking noises from the rear. Nothing major. I just chalk it up to lack of sound insulation.

Yup that was my best guess. Since the way I park, by the time I get out, the sun has been hitting the hatch area full blast from 12pm - 5pm.

It's such a minor rattle though... nothing compared to the random creaks and rattles that came from my MKIV VW GTI no matter what temp the car was at, and don't get me started on the check engine lights.

I'm not sure if this is the same issue but, I can hear a rattle in the hatch area on bumpy roads only.

I'm pretty sure its coming from the latch in the trunk lid. I had my very understanding gf ride in the hatch area. Told her to push up on the hatch and the rattle stopped.

I think someone posted a fix for the noisy latch around here.. Something about removing and repositioning the latch to create a tighter seal. I've just been to lazy to do anything else about it.

Hahaha well she's my ex now so now I definitely wouldn't even let her *** climb in the trunk...I'll use the space for better things like quick detailer and microfiber towels

It's the hook on the hatch. I've noticed that I can wiggle it around hard enough and it makes the same sound. You need to take the panel off and tighten down the 4 screws it's held by.
