I'm sure that a large part of the M370's cost is getting the OEM manifold. I'm thinking you could have a new one molded for less. The R&D would be the costly part.

Maybe Motordyne can chime with more details.

Sure, that is 'possible' but it would have to be torqued down really hard to do that. (as in waaay past the stock torque spec.) And the only real objective of torquing it down at all is to compress the soft silicone gasket beneath the manifold. Spec. torque is all that is needed and it will NEVER break.

As for designing an all new manifold, its not a viable or practical business option. The modified stock manifold from Nissan is very well engineered and basically is designed and manufactured with what is effectively unlimited Nissan resources. Such as the tooling to make that manifold. The tooling alone would cost somewhere between $200K-$350K to emulate. Then the piece part price of each manifold would be 2-3x higher than it is now.

With all that put together it would be completely unfeasible from a manufacturing point of view. The best and only practical/viable business option is to modify an existing stock part. Its the only way.

Otherwise, the M370 makes measurable/objective power and torque gains. And that is all it is really for. Power and Torque gains.

there is a manifold that costs over 1k for our cars, looks nice, complete new design, makes nothing in terms of power.

Thats 1k.. for no gains.. add R&D into gains and your looking at 1500.

So the m370 is a good bargain. As much as you complain about dnot use a 350z part... there are alot of parts in our car taken from a 350z or other nissans. Companies always reuse parts in cars, electronics.. anything.

I could tell a big difference down low in torque and no loss up top. Car continues to pull to redline.

I have M370, Stillen Gen 3, Full 3 inch exhaust, and FI Resonated Test Pipes.

Its kind of like what happened with the MREV2 that is used on the prior 350Z. A modified stock manifold was used on a newer generation engine and it makes really great gains.

Many companies have tried to design plenum modifications for the 350Z. Anything to squeez out a little more performance... And still nothing comes close (in terms of dyno performance) to the Motordyne MREV2 with the 5/16" plenum spacer.

What I can say with certainty is the Motordyne M370 is the highest value and best performing manifold available for the VHR engine. And it makes appreciable gains.

I have been happy with the M370 so far. My car doesn't spend much time above 7000 rpms, but it regularly sees 3000-5000rpm. So this intake definitely makes driving around town more fun.

Also, Motordyne's customer service is great. After reading my post above, Tony has already contacted me and shipped out the aluminum plate. If only all vendors were so good.

Best way I can describe is deeper and throatier...

Hard to describe but noticeably different.

Other members have mentioned it changed their exhaust tone as well.
