I told him that the exhaust they sent me was sticking out a good three inches from the bumper. Bryan said they are making them a little longer now so that they stick out about a fingers width from the rear. He asked me to send him pictures of mine.

I had my muffler shop take an inch off each tailpipe and refit the tips back on. They are now about a fingers width out from the rear, I cant get them flush because the right tailpipe has a bend and that's keeping the tip from going flush, even with the pipe being cut. I told Bryan at Berk about this and he said he can fab up som new tips for me by cutting the collars shorter on them so they clear then bend. Since I had the pipes cut an inch they now look pretty good. Not flush, but just a little past the rear. I am satisfied with them now. So just a heads up to those of you looking to get these pipes. They may not sit flush to your bumper, and the tips are definitely different then the older versions.

My Berk exhaust (bought 4 months ago) arrived with the adjustable tips.

I didn't bother posting this but I had to cut the collar down on one tip so that it could be slid further towards the front. If you have an air rotary tool with a cutting wheel attachment this is pretty easy but it should've been flush from the factory imo. The drivers side tip slid into place easily because theres no bend in the way on that side.

I really need to write a review on the Berk installs thread! I get compliments from all types of people on the sound but fitment is still a bit of an issue with these.

Brandon why did you wait 3 weeks, I ordered mine like 3 weeks ago and it shipped the day I bought it...

The vendor said they were waiting for Berk to ship them. I ordered them 3 weeks ago and got the tracking number Friday, they are not here yet.

 What the hell was Berk thinking in doing such a thing?!!! They took a perfectly good product and messed it all up with those fuggly adjustable tips.

Like the old saying goes "Don't try and fix something that ain't broke!":shakes head: I totally agree with Dembflyr...I'm glad I got the original Berk....cuz if I was in the market for an exhaust now, it would be a cold day in hell before I would even consider buying this new version :barf:

I have the Berk; I installed it in August last year. I had a minor fitment issue in that the right tip was too far in and both tail pipes were slightly misaligned. Berk sent me a spacer to fix the right pipe and I used a 2x4 inserted into each tail pipe to make te final adjustment (up and down/left and right).

I am with Bolio when he says if they had the goofy adjustable tips, I would have not purchased it. I know that they have wrestled sith fitment issues, but this adjustable tip thing seems very jerry-rigged to me.

Anyway, mine fits perfectly and this is just my 2 cents worth. Take this post and $2.50 and you can get yourself a coffee at Starbucks.

The tips themselves are not the issue.

That's too bad, between the quieter exhausts, Invidia, Stillen, and Berk; I was going to go with Berk because it appeared best in length nested under the bumper.

BrandonT 06-08-2011 10:23 AM

gotchu99> so just to confirm you took one inch off the tailpipe and the tip is one finger width from flush with the top of the bumper lip? If you cut the tip collar also as Mandingo did how much do you estimate you can cut off? Enough to be flush?

Really would appreciate the feedback as I just bought this exhaust. I may go with Invidia instead, but those look a finger width or so past flush anyway, so if I can get to there or better I might as well just stay with the Berks.

Brandon, yeah I took one inch off the tailpipe because as you can see in the pictures on page one mine were way out for some reason. I guess when these exhausts are handmade you tend to get variations. There is plenty of metal on the collar to take off another inch or so to get them flush. If you get the Berks just take some metal off the collar of the tips first and see where you are at. Your exhaust might not be out as far as mine was to begin with. If you are still out to far then trim the tailpipe as well. Between the two cuts you should have no problem getting them flush. I don't mind that I am now out only a fingers width from the bumper. If it starts to bother me I will just trim the collar down a bit. I have Berk HFC's with the CBE and the sound is perfect. I still would recommend this exhaust, just sucks that it now needs some tweaking to get the fit right.

BrandonT 06-08-2011 05:18 PM

Awesome, thanks for the feedback. I'll probably just go ahead and install it and trim everything to fit.

40thThree7D 06-08-2011 08:43 PM

Well this sucks, I was just about to order this exhaust from a vendor because I liked the stock look of the original...ahhh well!!

Rui Z 06-08-2011 08:47 PM

Looks like I'll be able to sell my older version Berk CBE at a higher price now. :ugh2:

BerkTech 06-08-2011 10:39 PM

Hey guys,

We did in fact change the exhaust slightly from the original design based on customer feedback but it seems that many of you guys liked the original setup better. The reasons to go with a slip on tip were mainly to allow some adjustability in the tips. The slip fit allows you guys to position the tips precisely to match your bumper cutout and length. Some of you wanted the tips to stick out more to avoid collecting soot on the bumper. The slip fit allows you to pull them out so the tip is past the edge of the bumper and the clamp is small enough that you'll never see it unless you get down on your hands and knees.

On top of that more and more Nismo 370Z owners were wanting a different tip design that what we currently offer. The slip on tip allows us to mate virtually any tip to the exhaust and we can make custom tip options for you guy in house.

It would be a good idea to take a quick poll and see what you guys really prefer. Are you guys willing to work with us on this to see if we can nail down exactly what the majority want?

Cheers guys and thank you for your support!
