Motordyne ... I challenge you to make a ....
Exhaust with no rasp, drone , and hiss. Has to sound aggressive and make power.. No pressure right?? I say this because I know you have a exhaust in development for the 370 z and g 37. I have owned in order fastintentions , hks, magnaflow, invidia Gemini , ark and now have another fastintentions . The only one that did not have rasp , hiss and drone was the 800.00 invidia. Even with my art pipes it did not have any of these issue. I just did not like the way it sounds. Not aggressive enough for me. All the others had one of those issue. So (Tony) let your magic happen and I will buy.. I'm sure others on here will also. No pressure right????????

I think you kind of answered your own challenge there.... It is nearly impossible to make an aggressive sounding exhaust with no drone or rasp. The fact is, the things that kill drone and rasp (smaller pipes and aggressive resonators) also kill the aggressive sound. I don't want to say it is completely impossible, and if someone can do it it would be Motordyne, but that is asking a lot.

You are right. Tony has figured out how to eliminate drone and rasp. If he can figure out how to eliminate the hiss and make power I'm sold.. I don't know if it can be done but that's why it is the motordyne challenge.. I wonder how many people would buy his exhaust if he accomplished that.. Probably alot..

Exhausts resonate at different RPM's and under different loads (pressures). So I agree with a previous poster.... you probably won't find one.

I would.. It's funny that the 800.00 eliminated the rasp , hiss and drone no matter what I threw at it. Hfc or test pipes.. The only thing I didn't like was the tone. Wasn't that deep. You throw on a fastintentions or ark you have the tone but here comes the hiss and slight rasp and they cost over a thousand and some dollars.. Hks is garbage when u add hfc and test pipes . So basically what I am saying is I would pay the price ..

No offense, but all of the exhausts you mentioned sound pretty reasonable for a high performance car with a high revving V6. As you've already acknowledged, it's kinda hard to engineer away the little sound foibles that are a matter of taste and still get full performance out of the setup, at a reasonable cost and complexity. None of them sound so horrible that the level of hiss and rasp should be a primary concern.
IMHO, live with it and be happy with the performance (or buy a toyota corolla with a massive stereo system and play a recording of a ferrari revving ). |
