Still on hold until Tony has time, busy with the move right now but I will follow up with him again in a few weeks.

Any news on a replacement or anyone know anything? I just happened to come across a nismo exhaust that is missing the H-pipe but I can pick up the rest of it super cheap...but dont want to just throw money away if there is no option? I figure it would be basically pointless to buy it and install as is right? besides Tony..is there any other options at this point? I plan to get a FI CBE down the road...but if i can snag a cheap set up till im ready I figured why not?

XLR8SN 06-09-2012 12:59 AM

Dont worry, we are all waiting.....patiently and on the edge of our seats... :p

MyZ4U2C 06-09-2012 12:38 PM

Since I can get the muffler and pipe to the nismo muffler...minus the infamous H pipe....would one of the cheap Y pipes from eBay work? I am hesitant to pick the 2/3 of the nismo CBE up if there is no solution... I'm not very knowledgeable of the inter workings of piecing this together. If it's 2.5 it seems it would work. Does anyone have a cheap setup similar to what I'm describing while we wait to see what Tony can do?

Just want to bump this again to keep it on the radar.

dude why dont you give him a call if you're in northridge too!! probably easier that way. you could drop it off before work, and he could drop you off at your work, pickup the car at the end of the day, new x-pipe for all of us!!!!!!!!!!

i just picked up a nismo s-tune for cheap.. 200 bones! ( havent had it installed yet ) still looking / waiting for options

Has anyone spoken to the guy making these parts to see if he has the time to look at the exhaust. And also what price range this would fall into.

Finally had a chance to call and speak to Tony at F.I., we discussed a few options based on price/performance while keeping the stock muffler. Nothing is finalized and I am not scheduled to go into the shop yet, but he wants to help out the community and will be pushing this up on his to-do list. I am hoping for something within the next month or two.

From what I am told is the cats are the restriction. Any one can do a muffler delete and get the trick carbon fiber muffler with titanium blue tips for $60 off eBay and have them added to the rear of the current exhaust and have the same performance and sound as the 1200-1500 exhaust and still retain the heat shielding so you are not cooked from below.

I am on the fence of the x-pipe it works well for the 370z but I felt more performance when I had the Nismo exhaust on the car. I could feel the difference when I took it off but it was smoother, but think that is the balancing rubbers on the bottom of the exhaust.

But...the replacement of the mid pipe would be great and still help the exhaust system a bit.

I would already own their cat back if I could use the OEM hangers lol and no cutting in the passenger rear.

XLR8SN 07-26-2012 01:49 PM

Yup...I agree. Based on my past experiences with various other exhausts and all....I think that I really prefer using the OEM hanger locations and mounts. Custom mounts had a tendency to fail over time on me.

No I am not saying that the F.I. version will fail....just my preference.

I am still waiting with everyone in getting a H or X pipe option for the Nismo model. My Sunline H pipe has flanges that are misaligned and I have too many gaskets in there to compensate. And I think that it still leaks a little. :shakes head:

theres definitely a restriction at the H-pipe as well. if you have a high flow cat, the pipe is 2.5". the opening to the H-pipe i believe was 2.25" and then it opens back up to 2.5" before it hits the muffler. from what a tech at a local shop told me, it was probably done to increase backpressure. he told me opening it up to 2.5" might increase the power a bit, but of course thats all hearsay.

with that said, heres another bump. still want an X-pipe or some sort of replacement for our nismo's!

What I noticed on my 370z is that the pipe is smaller coming from the cats the Nismo is 2.5 from the cat back. The cats on my 370 looked like 2.25. Now on the Nismo I don't know I have not had the exhaust off. The gaskets are 2.5. If the cats were the same 2.25 as the 370z that is where the restriction would be. Also think the muffler is a big restriction. Thinking about getting some stainless CF rapped mufflers off ebay and adding those just to the end and later some high flow cats or straight pipes.
