Greddy tic problem
hey, this isnt a huge problem.. its just bugging me
with the silencers out, the titanium tip keeps vibrating around 2000-4000rpm! and i made it as tight as i can! its really pissing me off.. so i put them back in. my question is, is there a way to avoid that vibration? maybe adding washers? and is there a way to remove the silencers without using a sliding hammer? thanks for the help!! |
define vibrating a bit better? how can you tell? do you hear rattling?
|
get a m.5-8 nut and use the bolts that hold the silencers. Remove silencers and secure tips to the muffler using new nut and the old bolt instead of just sliding them on.

but any way to remove silencer without the sliding hammer?? i can borrow one from my teacher back in high school.. but i hate going there... all the students are looking and taking pictures... last time i went, two students were fighting over if my car was a 350z or 370z... |
the silencer should just pull out by hand. I took mine out before i installed it. And im pretty sure thats the right nut size but just take the screw to home depot and get the one that works
|
wait a second, you were running the tips without the bolts?? when you take out those silencers, you have to bolt those bolts back in man!!!! im surprised the tips didnt just fall off!

actually the first day i got my silencers intsalled i did drive home without the bolts in. But after that 30min drive i knew i had to keep bolts in.. those bolts not helping tho.. still vibrating sometimes
btw silencers wouldnt come out by just pulling, i tried before.. almost hit my head on the ground trying to pull it haha was fairladyz34 refering to the bolt and nut that came with the exhaust?? i thought fairladyz34 was refering to a bigger size or something.. any other suggestions?? |
the bolt screws into the silencers since the silencer's holes are threaded. Thats why you need to get a new nut and reuse the bolt that came with the silencers
|
they must have changed that... because i installed one 2 weeks ago, and it came with lock nuts that i put back in after taking out the silencers, which had to be pounded out with a slide hammer... getting them out was a nightmare.

man I think I'm going to put them back. the tips are not the only thing that is vibrating
everything shakes and a sound in the dash and the driver door do you have anything like this in your car ? do you think the vibration that is caused from the exhaust might lead to something like this ? ( loving the load sound ) |
Try a couple of stainless radiator screw clamps next to each other, maybe a half inch apart and tighten them with a socket wrench to get them as tight as possible. I have my tips on with these, can't see them from side or back. this might stop your vibration, more contact area spread out.

I was thinking about adding flex pipe to my tic. I'm sure it would eliminate most of the vibration.
I love the sound it makes without the silencers. |
