The only problem is it might be one temp before the maf/temp sensor, but then there's still a foot of piping for it to travel though afterwards... You'd have to have a sensor placed at the TB itself to get a true IAT of what's actually going in the engine. :ugh2:

It quite possibly is a "waste of time", most of the time. On the other hand, it could help, and when you look at the average $$ to performance ratio of most of the mods people are doing on these cars, it's so cheap and easy that you might as well just do it. The little, cheap temp/efficiency optimizations add up in the long run.

I've heard arguments against wrapping intakes, not that it hurts, just that it's a waste of time, since as soon as you floor the gas pedal, there will be enough air to chill those pipes back down very quickly. I guess it's a question of how quickly an unwrapped pipe soaks up heat, and how quickly it will cool back off from just the air flowing inside it. If revving your motor before a launch is enough to cool them back off, then I would argue it's pretty much not worth it. Or maybe just a fraction of the first second after launch, where you are probably traction limited anyways...

It would be a wast if it really cools that fast but the prob is it doesn't

I had the worst runs in the last week from 13.4 the week before to 13.9 and 13.75 was the best

it doesn't really help when you start the race with a hot intake and cools down when you finished the 1/4 and heats up while waiting for your turn :shakes head:

specially in the summer time but the wrapping hopefully will not make it hot as it used to. and when I say hot, I mean really hot that you can't keep your hand on intake!!

so I will order the gold one and hopefully I will get it done soon if I can survive the exams :eekdance:
