Default Tanabe y pipe vs motordyne y pipe help me choose please

I'm currently running an amuse stti exhaust, it's not a full cat back system, it's just a single mid pipe that connects to either the stock y pipe or an aftermarket one, so I was wondering which would be a better choice the tanabe or motordyne, and motordyne have 2 kinds of y pipes on their site what's the difference between the 2? And last but not least different y pipes have different measurements will these 2 y pipes I mentioned fit with my amuse exhaust, if any of you guys have anymore suggestions to any other y pipe please chime in

Both are great Y pipes. Both are stock replacements. The motordyne does give you some options such as a resonator or cat. Try to find a Y pipe that matches the the inlet of your Amuse CBE.

im currently running the motoryne xyz, i have to say its best y i have ever used...the sound and power are great! plus the flexibility that you get is unmatched..what you saw on thier site was the y with 1 of 3 diff adapters that jus clamp on. its a straight pipe, resonator, or a cat...i have the resonator on mine....really cleans up the sound.......that y was designed also for no tq loss....

As previously mentioned, both are great choices. I personally would go with the Motordyne over the Tanabe because of the adapters.

what is the differance between the resonated and normal one, which one do you recomend as i also ordered the ART pipes? and will it fit my amuse stti since its just a mid pipe that connects to the y pipe?

The resonated version is a little quieter and warmer sounding. It helps to reduce rasp.

It fits just like the stock Y-pipe so if your exhaust will connect to a stock Y-pipe, it will connect to the XYZ pipe no problem.

Here is a sound and dyno comparison by TAC-M. The comparison is on a 350Z but it should relate closely in both relative sound and performance differences.

Dyno results posted on page 2.

I havn't tested that specific setup but if anything, the resonated XYZ will have less rasp and a deeper sound.

anyone else have any input on this? looking into doing the same thing soon, just gotta decide which pipe to get

also rough idea/thoughts on how much "quieter" the resonated pipe is? or does it simply give it a deeper smoother sound?

Although it attenuates sound some, its mostly about tone control and reducing or eliminating rasp.
