Default 4 cats??

ok, since i dont own a breaker bar or impact wrench, ive been calling around to get a quote to install my brek hfcs.

I was thinking about borrowing a breaker bar from a friend, but i already broke an exhaust bolt trying to do the "washer mod" so im gonna guess the others will break as well.

Ive called around to a few places but they all say i have 4 cats. 2 up front and 2 in the back..... huh?!?!?!?!

I thought we only had 2 cats.....

There are two sections of catalyst material in each housing. So there are only two pieces to remove but technically four "cats."

Yeah, that is true, and I guess looking at one "pipe" you could say one is in the "back" and one is in the "front". I still think they don't know what the hell they are talking about though.

I totally agree.

Astrosfan, You could probably buy the tools you need to do this for cheaper then paying a shop to do it. Then you have some new tools too.

Use LOTS of PB Blaster and have that dremel on stand by.

I'd go so far as to use PB Blaster the night before, and again the morning before (maybe 30 minutes prior) trying to remove the bolts.

i literally soaked all the bolts with liquid wrench to get the demon bolt off, and i still had to end up cutting the bolt off with a dremel. best of luck to you!

I did the same to help out my mechanic. One side came off easily but I had a demon bolt on the other. They had to take the bolt off from the top by using lots of extensions. (Instructions can be found around here about removing bolts from engine bay)
