muffler delete
1 Attachment(s)
i know there are plenty of threads out there but i took my car to the muffler shop yesterday and had the cutoff the muffler behind the flanges.. Thursaday i will be taking it back to have straight pipes welded on and the stock tips welded to those. let me just say IMO the Z sounds badass! right now! im totally digging how deep and raspy she sounds!
Sorry about the pic Iphone couldnt handle the florida humidity :shakes head: |
wut?
You're driving around with no muffler at all right now? |
I am glad you like it. The stock exhaust note is very tame by comparison, I'm sure.
lol yea no muffler you would be suprised at how good it sounds..
I've got muffler deletes... it sounds much better with pipes going to the bumper I think.
yah, someone had a pair of pipes for sale... not sure if sold.
well im having them done tomorrow. i personally like the rumble right behind my seats. I dont know if it would ever get annoying. The guy at the muffler shop is doing all the fab. work, welding and everything for 55.00 cant beat it
cool. i'd paint over the welds with engine enamel so it doesnt rust. :)
good idea! will do
I didn't want to cut my stock muffler up so I had to buy Stainless tips. Mine were like $200 with the price of the tips and flanges.
I'm curious how the z sounds with no muffler.
something close to that?
you can youtube it like i did but it doesnt do it any justice its like night and day
Exactly like this:
FYI, you'll start to lose your hearing and the interior panels will rattle like crazy from 3500-5k RPM. I couldn't take it anymore after about a week. Even had headaches after 20min of highway driving. Ultimately, I went with the Stillen CBE with high flow cats and it's both aggressive and much more livable. I do miss the overrun burble the delete had though. |
I will agree that muffler deletes really do sound good...
Man I really...really like the way this sounds....has me thinking!!!
I've got mine for sale! $150 shipped!
http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...h_6ba35a28.jpg That is how my car sounded with just the muffler deletes. Stock everything else. I'll take another video today with my Y pipe and intakes and post it. |
It's a fun mod to try. But I strongly recommend you have the shop fab the pipes and tips from the midpipe flanges without destroying your muffler. You'll want to swap back to the OEM muffler or get an aftermarket exhaust if you drive you car more frequently than short weekend trips.

But I've had my pipes on for...about 3 months now without ever wanting to put the stock muffler back on because of the sound. I'm going to sell mine because I'm going to actually get a new exhaust system. |
I did this a long time ago but the drone was too much for me, Sounds mean outside the car though.
I got the aam s line exhaust pipes with test pipes and I'm loving it!
How do you think it would sound on a stillen CBE with the mufflers removed and straight pipe to the back bumper would it make any more RWHP ?

So i picked my Z up yesterday and while it did tame the sound (probably because the exhaust isnt right behind my seat now) i absolutely love how raspy she still sounds heres a pic of my $55 custom exhaust.
