Does anyone see anything possibly catastrophic about making my own o2 fix? I think any one of these HFC's or race pipes can be made to work just as long

Not sure what you have in mind. Just use the anti-fouler method if you're planning to use HFCs or test pipes without an integrated extension tube. That's essentially what the anti-fouler method is -- a way to keep the O2 sensors from turbulence.

Not too familiar with the exhaust system setup on the 370z. Are these the secondary (main) cats following a pre-cat in the exhaust manifold? Most systems I've seen on other cars have a primary o2 sensor before the first cat to monitor A/F, and a second between the two cats to make sure it is doin its job. There is usually no monitoring further downstream of the second o2 sensor (i.e. in theory, the car would not even know if the secondary converters were removed). Is this not the case for the new z?

Not sure this really matters for those that are planning on heavily modding their cars, but i was thinking of getting the stillen HFC's and the thing that turned me off about the stillens was the fact that they are not CARB legal. so i think i will stick with the Berk's. also apologize if this was mentioned earlier.

The Berks arent carb legal either afaik. Aren't they only 49 state legal?
Also Balanbro, the second o2 sensor does nothing but check for cat deficiencies. I for one, have found a different fix to this problem....I think I'm going with race pipes. Last edited by RCZ; 04-14-2009 at 10:05 PM. |

yeah youre absolutely right, but does the stillen claim even that? its not on their site. It also doesn't claim to be OBDII compliant, thats a big deal in NC. i was just saying though, I'm still really new to this so set me straight if im jacked up!

No high-flow cats for these applications are CARB legal.. and while they will pass the sniffer test.. it's against federal law to replace your factory cats for use on the road. HFCs are sold with the intention that they will not be used on federal roads.

OBDII compliant? OBDII is diagnostics system. Uses a port under your steering wheel to read whether you have had or have diagnostic codes triggered. What the heck does OBDII compliant mean? hehe I think you are talking about whether you have check engine lights or codes scannable with the OBDII scanner. Maybe? If you have triggered codes, you may not pass the test.

No can do.. the rear O2 sensors control fuel trims..
EDIT: I should clarify.. secondary fuel trims associated with CELs.. Last edited by Josh@STILLEN; 04-15-2009 at 12:04 AM. |

This is an interesting thread, hopefully people take a look at it before plunging into purchasing HFCs. There is a little more to it with this car than I have experienced in my previous vehicles.
