Check Engine Light!

Hey guys, so i got Invidia HFCs installed and after driving the car about 80 miles the check engine light came up

I dunno what the problem is since the light didnt show up right after the installation and before those 80 miles that were put on the HFCs.

Also every time i slow down i notice a weird hissing sound. I cant hear this with windows up, only down and at speeds below 30 mph.

So if anyone can address this problem i would really appreciate it. I personally think its faulty installation. I dunno help me out

Get that checked out...

The hissing sound is normal. The more you modify the exhaust, the more audible it will be.

It might just be a faulty installation.. like I said, get it checked out, it might just need a quick tweakin'. Good luck.

Probably need to add spark plug defoulers to extend the bung.

Failing that, cram some steel wool into the bung to slow the exhaust gasses (ECU measures rate of change between O2-1 and O2-2 on each bank).

Yeah the engine light is just from you HFC. I think it to alike a week for mine to go off after installing my test pipes. So then car had to been driven close to 500 miles.... You can trick the sencor like people are telling you or you can have it fixed with a tune.

Dont worry theres nothing wrong with your car. The CEL came on because of a cat deficiency code from the HFC. The car thinks your catalytic converters are shot. The hiss is normal too, just about everyone with exhaust has a decell hiss. Learn to love it because its from the car, not the exhaust.

I have muffler deletes, Y pipe and stillen G3 intakes on my car...

The other day while sitting at the bank my CEL came on. I figured it was something to do with the exhaust and intakes so I reset the battery and it hasn't come back on.

ok guys thank you, im glad im not the only one with this problem. the only thing that was upsetting me is the fact since they advertise their product by saying no check engine light, but it came on. i will wait and see if it turns off after driving it a few 100 miles but after hopefully a tune will take care of it.

If the CEL is from a misfire or something it won't go away without resetting.

So i have driven close to 500 miles on my HFCS but the CEL is still on. I also got the person who installed them to clear the code and it worked for about 50 miles but the light came back on.

The installation is fine because i got multiple people to look at them. so i dunno what the deal is.

Will a tune take care of the CEL or is it 50/50 on that too?

Jordo! 04-14-2011 10:59 PM

Tune, 100% yes. They can change the threshold to something really high.

Spark plug defoulers alone -- possibly.

Spark defoulers plus cramming some steel wool in the bung, so I've been told 100% yes.
