HELP! CAI Sucked Up Water!
Had quite a scare yesterday, ******* monsoon in Orlando! Drove over a flooded mall entrance, (did see the water until i was already in it), car lost power, won't shut down completely and didn't wanted to start. Waited 10 sec than tried to start it again, the engine was choking and there was so much smoke everywhere. It finally started but my car definitely did not want to go far, so parked it for like an hour, hoping all the water drains out and my intake would dried up a little (still raining like a mofo). But when I drove it again, everytime I push down hard on the gas the car just jerks really hard when it shifts. Brought it to the mechanic this morning, he told me that my cam sensor got wet and the cold air intake prob sucked up some water. He changed my oil to make sure there was no water in my oil and he checked the transmission to make sure there was no water in there either. Right now she is fine but I am hoping I didn’t do too much damage. So far now check engine light (knock on wood). I am letting her sit for the day to dry out. Anybody ever run in to this problem? What did you do? Did you notice any problems later on?

You put a snorkel on your car to scoop up water and you drive your car thru a flood and you expect someone else to pay for your ignorance? |

Before you take it to the dealer...I would suggest to swap back to the OEM intakes. If the dealer sees the CAI and is not mod friendly...then they are more than likely to deny your claim and it will be out of pocket to repair any possible damages. Even more so if you try to have insurance cover any damages.

wow dude relax. Geico has a plan that you pay for extra that covers this. I want to say it is mechanical breakdown. So stop with the ignorant *** remark. Your rates are high because you probably drive like a A hole and got speeding tickets and also maybe some accidents with in the last 5 years. Your rates are bassed off of your age, vehical worth, driving record, and location such as population and estimated accidents per year. He does not have any impact on your rates.

Yikes, another water issue with Injens. I am glad the car seems to be running ok all things considered, no harm in getting a compression test done just to make sure.

You should immediately move out of Florida. It is quite obviously not a CAI friendly state.
