Stillen OIL COOLER, Headers, Catback and Light Weight Pulley (Pictures A-plenty)

Nice work RCZ. If I end up doing an oil cooler, I may copy your design power steering move. Got any details on what tubing and such to use for

Nice work RCZ. If I end up doing an oil cooler, I may copy your design power steering move. Got any details on what tubing and such to use for the power steering extension? I was going to wait and see if I get any heat problems driving in the summer before pulling the trigger on this, but maybe it's just a good idea regardless, to achieve an oil temp that's just lower and more stable.

One question that maybe you can answer tomorrow: on a cold (like, overnight cold) start, is there any longer lag time until you hear the top of the engine get oiled? Just one of those nitpicky things running through the back of my head, since the oil pump now has to push through the cooler too (in addition to the filter and on up) to get the cylinder heads lubed.

I'm guessing, but I would think that the lines and cooler would already be full of fluid, so that once the pumping starts the distance for oil to travel to cylinder heads is unchanged

Good filters have an anti-drainback valve, so I guess this comes down to: does that sandwich plate route the oil as pump->filter->cooler->engine, or pump->cooler->filter->engine? If it's the latter, then the cooler will drain back into the oil pan and need to be refilled before you flow oil to the top again (unless you add another one-way valve to the system at the sending hose to the cooler).

the only way the cooler will drain back into the oil pan is if was upside down and higher than the engine, and the drain spot back into the engine was higher than the level of the oil, don't worry the oil cooler wont drain.

I have an oil cooler twice the size of that one on my 350Z and no issues with oil distribution.

I'm eagerly awaiting your results. Are you planning on doing a fresh baseline run before you add the pulley/headers/HFC?

Also, are you going with Berk HFC's or STILLEN's?

Makes sense. Now this begs the question though: how does this change oil changes? What do you do to swap out the fluid in the cooler when changing oil?

Probably not doing a baseline before those installs because its kinda pointless considering I just did three runs on that dyno yesterday. Personally I dont care if the weather has changed from now till I install. Results will be valid either way.

I am still trying to decide what Im going to do about the cats.

Because they are meant to be used off-road only for racing applications. Only because they aren't OEM equipment really...

That one comes on the car. Moving those big tires around takes a lot more effort than you would think. The system gets hot and you might boil the fluid... if that happens then you get air the system and the steering starts to malfunction. By adding the cooler you keep that from happening... might get a bigger core for mine..
