Default Which Exhaust for Berk HFC?

So in my eternal search for the perfect exhaust, every time I find an exhaust that matches my tastes, there's always something off about it. So I wanted to ask you guys' opinion on which exhaust is a good match for someone running Berk HFCs.

My main concern is any unwanted sounds (hissing, droning) from mating the exhaust to the HFCs - example: Ark Grip Type 2. I've read a thread somewhere about The X-pipe being the culprit when installed on a car with HFCs.

Also, I'd want a true dual design, instead of something with a Y-pipe or an X-pipe.

So far, I'm considering the FI, HKS, and Greddy.

I'd appreciate any input on people's experiences with picking out an exhaust for your car with HFCs.

mr_sparkle, the FI exhaust is the most popular on this forum and you probably went through the numerous youtube videos that give you a great idea of exhaust note and reviews.

The Berk exhaust does pretty well also with the exception of a few installation issues.

FI Thread

There is a forum member in Guam with the Berk exhaust, you could check out his vids on youtube.

Good luck picking.

Can you enlighten me about the installation issues of the Berk exhaust ( I assume you meant catback ).

Sure thing Wolf, the installation issues some members had were missing exhaust parts that ended up delaying installs, shipping issues. No issues specifically with the Berk catback but rather packaging and some fitment issues.

I'm in the same boat, looking for an exhaust to mate to the berk HFC. I've been looking around and found that the invidia seems to sound pretty decent. Below is a link that I've found...also below is the link to the guy from guam and his berk set up. The berk is nice but pretty pricey. The invidia can be had for several hundred less.

Guess I'm lucky I missed out on all those issues then. Thanks though, I forgot I posted on that thread!

Berk + 18" FI is a pretty popular combo for most people on here.

Berk + Gemini is another good option that costs a bit less.

You guys notice the hiss coming from the either the Berk HFC/Berk CBE combo or from the Berk HFC/Gemini CBE combo? It's definitely there as the rpms drop. Kinda annoying, if you ask me. Trying to avoid that at all costs.

Might have to go with HKS after all: According to him, no rasp/drone/hiss at all with this combination.

I've also founds this:

CNT Racing V2 370z Catback Exhaust (Sound clip, Pictures included)

Seems like a knock-off of the HKS and at 800 bucks, seems like a great deal. As far as i know, the HKS and CNT both have 60mm piping and 120mm tips, and the design looks very similar. Might wait before the CNT is in production before ordering.

I think the only way to get away from the hiss is to swap out the HFC's, the hiss is there on pretty much every set up with HFC's or test pipes. I hear that people with resonated TP and HFC's don't have it quite so bad. Even in the HKS clip you can still hear a slight hiss as the engine revs down.

hmm looks like you're right urban. Seems like the hiss is always there and is only amplified by having an exhaust with an x-pipe and adding test pipes or HFCs.

oh well, now just looking forward to some user review of the CNT Racing V2 exhaust so I can figure out if it's worth spending twice as much on the HKS or not.

The Invidia gets my vote.... Wait... That's "MY" Car

This video really does NOT do this exhaust justice, ask Birdmanx1.. it's SO much better when you actually hear it..!!

LOL the vids don't reproduce the Invidia exhaust note. TROOPER's exhaust is awesome sounding and LOUD (in a good way) when you want it, first time I heard him fire up the nismo, my mouth dropped. Loud enough to shut up ricers reving next to you at traffic lights all the while waking up the popos in a 3 blocks radius Can't wait to get the FI exhaust to match TROOPER's exhaust
