Thanks! Another update, it would take 2 to 3 weeks to get a prototype ready. Once it's ready we are going to do some dyno runs, base vs the prototypes.

So it will clamp down to seal to the inner bumper and make use of the OEM ducting?

Remember to do 4-5 runs (not just 3) to see effects of filters.

If someone has a set of K&N' panels to compare and contrast, that would be great -- major selling point!

Yes from what I understood they will clamp it down near the OEM ducting, however it will not fit right into it. I suggested that they make a heat shield around that area so the intake will minimize pulling in air from the engine.
Also the intake is encased already so that's additional protection.

Alright I'll suggest to them monitoring the air temp and doing 4 to 5 runs. I have a complete stock system, no K&N filters.

If it doesn't seal to the bumper like OEM, it's not going to work much better than any other SRI... If it's open, it will draw in underhood heat -- period. They can minimize it with clever placement, but hotter air will still tend to get drawn in.

All they need is a plastic flange and two short lines of flexible high tempt ducting (similar to modhsack's fang vent set up). THe flange just needs to clip into the bumper ducts. How hard would it be to make that?

Just sayin...

They should pick up a set of K&N's for you to do the test. If it can't outperform the cheapest option in town, why bother?

I guess they could do a comparison with a set of Gen 3's if someone can lend it to you, but dropping in the panel filters will be much easier.

If they can show it does better than the high flow panel filters, they'll have one-upped every other company selling an intake for this car -- a great selling point!

Who cares if it outflows a paper element at this stage in the game?

Hi everyone,

The first prototype is up and we took it for a dyno run, you will notice that the intake sticks out from the car a bit that would be corrected on the next version. Posted up a video just as a teaser it's still a work in progress. Don't have the dyno info on me but after several runs the gain is around 8 hp.

I don't think it's the case of how difficult it is to make a connecting piece from the duct to the intake but rather the cost and if it's worth it at the end. You have to keep in mind as you drive cold air should be forced through the fascia and the filter is protected as well. Regardless looking for more suggestions and comments!

sounds good, i love the sound! if they can make it suck air from the OEM location i bet gains will be even better....I'm more intreseted in the under the curve gains vs peak/

in for dyno

Yeah the sound of the intake is awesome, the final product will definitely point lower to the air duct. Still not sure if they are going to manufacture the connecting piece. I'm waiting for them to email me the dyno results, will post up once I get it.

A few comments:

1. Orientation and placement of the MAF sensors is critical! They need to keep it stable, and ideally exactly in the stock placement and orientation. It will need to clamp down so engine vibrations don't move the intake around, which will cause misreads.

Actually, it sounded like that was happening during the protoype pull, which may be why they didn't share dyno results just yet...

Be interesting to see what they send you. If you can get drf's (dynojet?) of the baseline and final version runs, I can make an overlay graph to show exactly where gains were made.


2. It will take 3+ pulls for the ECU to adjust, so tell them not to be discouraged if pull #1 doesn't show any gains.


3. They definitely should try and figure out a way to get that to lock down to the bumper duct. Probably just needs a "U" shaped flange on the end. That said, I understand if having one made will be cost prohibitive...

Hi everyone,

Apologize for the super long delayed update. It's very unlikely this project will come to life, at least through me. Things were moving slow and I was not able to get a hold of the rep I was working with at PRM. Last time we spoke he was ill and from then on I emailed him a few times but with no response. I hope things are ok on his end.

Anyhow I never got any updates from the Dyno so I don't have any info on performance gains.
