Megan Drift CBE - my 2 cents

I just wanted to share my opinion of the Megan CBE. First, yea it's not the high "fu fu" of names but, it's really a great product ($635 free shipping). Fully polished tubes/mufflers, welds are clean, great fit, good gauged piping, smooth bends. 1 of 2 the best parts, VERY obvious notice of increased power release; all the way to red line. And the 2nd best part... the sound?! Well, if you had the pleasure to race a 1995 Porsche 930, there is your sound, no joke. Deep, with a thrusting medium pitch, OMG, this CBE just Kick A's. The audio on You Tube, does NOT do this system justice. At idle, it sounds mean and the improvement it gave my Z, had my hands slightly shacking from the addicting improved speed! :yum:

My 17yr old son, as we rode around, called it "insane and quick"

>> On to my next tune. Just got all the parts in ($130). I'm building a (copy) of the long tube intake, like the "Name Brand" charges for over $600+

did you purchase the mid pipe with cbe?

tiller 02-21-2011 10:23 AM

video and pics would be good?

Yes, I got the two mufflers with mid pipes and aka "y pipe" though it's two separate pieces. Megan can sell the two mufflers by them selves aka axel back. They sell the mid with the two pipes that connect to the cat aka cat back. The cat back consist of two mufflers, mid pipe and the pipes that connect behind to the cats.

FYI - I drove around town yesterday. it's not too loud and no drone, unless you drive in 6th below 2k rpm which is not good in it self because of bogging the engine. Great pick up of red lights, the sound gets real good past 3k rpm. Cruising at 60mph at 2k rpm is quiet unless you give it gas, the sound picks up again. In any gear, you get obvious power and torque, so far this is a great exhaust for me. PS, I passed several cops, the exhaust isn't super loud because they didn't chase me down.

pics vids etc?

Vince's Red-Z 02-23-2011 10:29 AM

Yo, No, sorry I didn't take any pics/video. If you can understand (or one day will) when a teenager offers to help, you grab it and run with it, like the old saying, "Don't look at a gift horse in the mouth"..LOL. I didn't have next day neck strain pain, is all I appreciated.

tiller 02-26-2011 06:39 PM

are you gonna install the new test pipes/converters from megan racing?

great prices on the link you posted

AJ PwR 02-26-2011 07:51 PM

I used to run Megan exhaust on my s2k. They are ok for the price. There were some fitment issues and I have to make the holes bigger on the header flange to make it to fit onto the engine and the exhaust didn't sit too nice... :( It didn't sound too nice either.

IMO, I got my lesson, I will paid more to get better ones.

Just my 0.2 cents !
