amuse STTI exhaust with HFC or FI long tube headers?

hey guys, soon ill be getting my amuse STTI exhaust, its on order and should be ready this month hopfully :happydance:

my questions are, what combo do you guys think i should go with for that set up, HFC's or FI long tube headers? im not looking to make it sound raspy, because from what i read the amuse has an exotic tone to it, so i wouldnt want to mess with that, i know the hfc will make the sound deeper, but will the FI make it raspy?

my second question is which set up will give me the better gains?

if i install the amuse first and either the HFC or FI long tube headers at a later stage, lets say for example after a couple of months, will that take away from the gains? does it make a difference if installed together at one time or seperatly ?

And last but not least which set up will sound the nicest, again from what i read, the amuse sounds amazing so i wouldnt want to mess with that by going with the wrong combo?

and a side note, just to make sure the FI long tube headers eliminte the HFC right?

Thanks guyz in advance.:hello:

Well

If you're looking for sound, then long tube is not ur taste, I say go with Fast intention resonated HFC.

zuperman 370 01-14-2011 10:10 AM

so will the long tube make it raspy? what about performance wise which one is better?

G37sHKS 01-14-2011 10:12 AM

yes the long tube will make it raspy.

I don't get it.. you're looking for performance wise or clean sound wise?

zuperman 370 01-14-2011 10:15 AM

actually both, i mean if i get more performance from the FI but at the expense of my car sounding raspy then ill opt for the HFC, so you can say that im looking for clean sound, and wouldnt hurt to get some performance.

G37sHKS 01-14-2011 10:37 AM

Lol As i said earlier, Go with Fast intention "Resonated" HFC.

Fast intention have an option to have 1 resonator and 1 HFC in 1 pipe. beat that :D

zuperman 370 01-14-2011 10:41 AM

i will look into that, what are numbers i can expect with them?

G37sHKS 01-14-2011 10:54 AM

i have no idea my friend, you might be looking for a Y pipe too since the amuse exhaust is not full catback..

you can get minimum of 30HP gains with Amuse catback + Y pipe + HFC.

CrownR426 01-14-2011 10:56 AM

test pipes!

zuperman 370 01-14-2011 11:01 AM

no its a full catback singel pipe, but it is a full catback no need for y pipe, so u think hfc as well?

....okay, not sure who told you that, but, the amuse exhaust is NOT a full catback single pipe. it's a Y-pipe back exhaust only. i assume you bought the R1000 since you said single pipe? (correct me if i'm wrong.) but think about this.

http://bespoke-public-product-images...c3_600x394.jpg

it's only got one inlet, how do you connect the two exhaust pipes to your exhaust? with...er...a Y PIPE.

trust me on this one, i ran this system. you'll need an aftermarket Y-pipe as well. the stock y-pipe does this exhaust no justice at all. with that said, no need to run the amuse y-pipe or anything.

and fwiw go with the HFCs. it sounded pretty good when i had the exhaust.

zuperman 370 01-14-2011 11:20 AM

370ZTUNE.com

this is it dual tip single pipe, its this was because the singel pipe is less restrictive sound wise, and test pipe out of the question maybe to raspy

phelan 01-14-2011 11:25 AM

i ran this system, so i have personal experience with these exhausts. i guarantee, 100%, YOU WILL STILL BE USING A Y-PIPE. YOU DID NOT BUY A FULL CATBACK SYSTEM. two HFCs don't magically become one exhaust pipe without SOME metalwork conencting it!

here:

the amuse exhaust compares only to the Y-pipe back section of the stock exhaust.

see the y-pipe all the way in front of the exhaust?

zuperman 370 01-14-2011 11:45 AM

oh yes now i can see, so what y pipe did you run does it matter which one i use? what other mods did you combine with the amuse? and how does the system sound in real i know the videos dont do it justice

G37sHKS 01-14-2011 11:49 AM

Oh phelan your car sounds great on that video b4 and after.. why did you sold that exhaust??

FI HFCs and the amuse y-pipe. It doesn't really matter which one you use as long as the piping is bigger than the stock Y-pipe. the stock one is so small it restricts a lot of flow, which means that single 3" pipe on the amuse exhaust does basically nothing. depends on your budget, there are plenty of options. tanabe is one that i know off the top of my head. others are mine's, fujitsubo, mcr...if you want a JDM part.

actually, you'll probably be mostly looking at jdm companies, as most american and other companies go for a full catback system with an x-pipe or different configuration. jdm ones for some reason still like the y-pipe.

other than that, the exhaust from what i remember sounded pretty good, no drone, you'll get used to the backpressure 'hiss' that all aftermarket exhausts make. The amuse systems seem to have a louder hiss than other ones in the cabin.

btw zuperman, if you want vids of hfcs + the exhaust (with stock y-pipe) go to my old review thread:

i didn't sell it. it's just off the car right now because it was damaging the fuel system. see my journal for an explanation, but i've got a temporary exhaust on until i can get the amuse exhaust back on. trust me, i really want my amuse exhaust back on the car.

you know what...just for fun i think later on i'm going to take a video of my current exhaust. it's hilariously loud.

zuperman 370 01-14-2011 12:02 PM

phelan thanx for your input, so basically it will fit on the stock one but will be restricitive, do you feel the extra power with the amuse?

phelan 01-14-2011 12:55 PM

the exhaust will give you more power and torque. with that said, i can't really comment on the exhaust system alone, as i did a lot of mods at the same time.

zuperman 370 01-14-2011 01:05 PM

thank you for your input phelan, you really helped me out

cant you see his dyno post? he got 15 HP and 9 Tq with stock Y pipe.. I can only imagine how many more power this exhaust will produce after installing any good after market Y pipe..

I would go with Motordyne resonated Y pipe;) *hint hint phelan*

zuperman 370 01-14-2011 01:51 PM

i the motorgyne good? i was actually taking a look at the tanabe y pipe is that any good? whats the pricing on th motorgyne?

G37sHKS 01-14-2011 02:06 PM

well..Motordyne Y pipe got several option with their Y pipe

either with how flow cats, Resonators or straight pipe.. Best Y pipe i ever seen..

i would go with resonated Y pipe just for sake of quietness.

zuperman 370 01-14-2011 02:09 PM
