amuse STTI exhaust with HFC or FI long tube headers?
hey guys, soon ill be getting my amuse STTI exhaust, its on order and should be ready this month hopfully :happydance:
my questions are, what combo do you guys think i should go with for that set up, HFC's or FI long tube headers? im not looking to make it sound raspy, because from what i read the amuse has an exotic tone to it, so i wouldnt want to mess with that, i know the hfc will make the sound deeper, but will the FI make it raspy? my second question is which set up will give me the better gains? if i install the amuse first and either the HFC or FI long tube headers at a later stage, lets say for example after a couple of months, will that take away from the gains? does it make a difference if installed together at one time or seperatly ? And last but not least which set up will sound the nicest, again from what i read, the amuse sounds amazing so i wouldnt want to mess with that by going with the wrong combo? and a side note, just to make sure the FI long tube headers eliminte the HFC right? Thanks guyz in advance.:hello: |
Well
If you're looking for sound, then long tube is not ur taste, I say go with Fast intention resonated HFC. |
so will the long tube make it raspy? what about performance wise which one is better?
|
yes the long tube will make it raspy.
I don't get it.. you're looking for performance wise or clean sound wise? |
actually both, i mean if i get more performance from the FI but at the expense of my car sounding raspy then ill opt for the HFC, so you can say that im looking for clean sound, and wouldnt hurt to get some performance.
|
Lol As i said earlier, Go with Fast intention "Resonated" HFC.
Fast intention have an option to have 1 resonator and 1 HFC in 1 pipe. beat that :D |
i will look into that, what are numbers i can expect with them?
|
i have no idea my friend, you might be looking for a Y pipe too since the amuse exhaust is not full catback..
you can get minimum of 30HP gains with Amuse catback + Y pipe + HFC. |
test pipes!
|
no its a full catback singel pipe, but it is a full catback no need for y pipe, so u think hfc as well?

http://bespoke-public-product-images...c3_600x394.jpg it's only got one inlet, how do you connect the two exhaust pipes to your exhaust? with...er...a Y PIPE. trust me on this one, i ran this system. you'll need an aftermarket Y-pipe as well. the stock y-pipe does this exhaust no justice at all. with that said, no need to run the amuse y-pipe or anything. and fwiw go with the HFCs. it sounded pretty good when i had the exhaust. |
370ZTUNE.com
this is it dual tip single pipe, its this was because the singel pipe is less restrictive sound wise, and test pipe out of the question maybe to raspy |
i ran this system, so i have personal experience with these exhausts. i guarantee, 100%, YOU WILL STILL BE USING A Y-PIPE. YOU DID NOT BUY A FULL CATBACK SYSTEM. two HFCs don't magically become one exhaust pipe without SOME metalwork conencting it! here: http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/5011/dsc05593e.jpg the amuse exhaust compares only to the Y-pipe back section of the stock exhaust. http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/374/dsc05609a.jpg see the y-pipe all the way in front of the exhaust? |
oh yes now i can see, so what y pipe did you run does it matter which one i use? what other mods did you combine with the amuse? and how does the system sound in real i know the videos dont do it justice
|
Oh phelan your car sounds great on that video b4 and after.. why did you sold that exhaust??

actually, you'll probably be mostly looking at jdm companies, as most american and other companies go for a full catback system with an x-pipe or different configuration. jdm ones for some reason still like the y-pipe. other than that, the exhaust from what i remember sounded pretty good, no drone, you'll get used to the backpressure 'hiss' that all aftermarket exhausts make. The amuse systems seem to have a louder hiss than other ones in the cabin. btw zuperman, if you want vids of hfcs + the exhaust (with stock y-pipe) go to my old review thread: http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...vids-dyno.html Quote:
http://www.the370z.com/members-370z-...tml#post848299 you know what...just for fun i think later on i'm going to take a video of my current exhaust. it's hilariously loud. |
phelan thanx for your input, so basically it will fit on the stock one but will be restricitive, do you feel the extra power with the amuse?
|
the exhaust will give you more power and torque. with that said, i can't really comment on the exhaust system alone, as i did a lot of mods at the same time.
|
thank you for your input phelan, you really helped me out
