Mod problem
So last night a mechanic and I installed the gen 3 intakes and oil cooler and now the car isn't running properly. It has no power below 5k and it idles at 1k. I've gone over it reset the ecu and still can't find the problem.
Also it's stumbling at 4k
This just in. Revs are fluctuating and car won't rev over 2500
Loose connection or big vacuum leak
Possible damaged MAF sensor?
Maybe a loose connection but I once overed everything. MAF sensors were taken out with care. Car has 6500miles
Cam angle sensor?
Check all of the connections. Make sure the MAF plugs are secure. Check all the hoses.
I agree. You have some kind of loose connection with your intakes. If it were me I would take everything back out and inspect.
by any chance did you unplug the harness from the throttle bodies!?

so everything looks secure? no visible vacum leaks are around the couplers? pull your mafs out and look for damage to the wires would be my next step
Ok so cel came on. Got codes P010B P006A and P0171
P010B and A refer to both your MAF's. so something is wrong there.
p0171 is saying bank running too lean which may be a result of the malfunctioning Maf's. Clean out the MAF's real quick if you can and resecure them. I cant remember if its possible to put them in backwards but check that. |

do not blow on the MAF sensors. if you do anything to them make sure u use the MAF cleaner
disconnect the battery before doing anything to the sensors or plugs. just a precaution. those things are really finicky sometimes. all else failes, put back to stock and take to the dealer.
I had a similar problem when I went to clean my air filters. Apparently a small piece of a leaf fell down in the intake side of the airbox when I pulled the filter out.
I started the car and drove it to the gas station... missing like **** and then CEL came on and started idle surging from 1k to like 3k. I drove back to my shop and pulled the MAFs out, only to find a piece of leaf was stuck inside. I shook it out, cleaned the MAF and reinstalled it... reset the ECU and it was good to go. Something tells me either the MAFs weren't put back in properly or something is affecting their air flow. I'd pull the intakes back off and check everything again. |
Major vac leak somewhere after the MAF sensor.
Thanks for all the advice guys. Still didn't find the issue yet. But I've noticed it drives fine on interstate. But anyways it's going back to the dealer today.

a vacuum leak means the air entering the motor is not metered and cannot be adjuster for with fuel
Car is fixed and running well. As it turns out it was a small bug that mysteriously found it's way onto on of the MAF sensors. Thanks for the advice though
guess most of us were right, it was the MAF sensor (sort of) glad its all good now.
