I have also noticed that my check engine light came on, probably had to do with emissions. So I decided to take it to Nissan, and they assured when they ran the diagnostics test it had to so with the intake system.

Has anyone else encountered the same issue with theirs?

Please advise if any info.

Thanks,

Did they tell you what the codes were?

I have the G3 on my 370 and have been having some issues...I felt like I lost some power and took it in to get looked at. Tech says the intakes may be causing my gas to be running lean. Any merit to this or should I keep looking for other causes?

Just saw this after I posted. Yeah man tech are saying the intake is causing my car to run lean. And I'm def not getting the same pick up and go as I did when first installed. Have had them on for about a year. Contemplating putting my stocks back on. Hope Stillen see these and can give us some answers

I ran mine for over a year no problems. Has anyone checked the codes? ^^^^ do you have codes or going of butt dyno. These cars run so rich from the factory that intakes alone wouldn't cause a lean issue unless you have leaks in the system after the MAF's. Try cleaning the filter, Over a year should be cleaned anyways and clean the MAF's.

I have a friend who was fully bolted , Headers ETC, and wasn't so lean he had problems. He drove it that way for over a year before getting a tune.

So I'm guessing they didn't give you any details on things like Alpha's? So there was no Check Engine Light at all?

Default STILLEN Longtube G3 Intakes. Review, Dyno and Impressions.

At the time of my diagnostic with Nissan I didn't think of asking them for the codes.

According to the sales associate at stillen, I won't mention his name, I didn't have to clean my air filters until at least 50,000 miles, my car only has 28k miles on it. However, I noticed that Stillen now has an oil filter and dry filter. I will clean out the filters, but at least I'm not the only one with the same issue.

Take that 50k mileage and throw it out the window - you've changed to a completely different intake setup. One that is more exposed to the elements.

Take them off, give them a good cleaning. Also, clean your MAFs.

Are u running anything else besides the intakes (I.e. hfc's, headers, tp's, cbe?) If so the addition of the intakes will cause u to run lean and will require for u to get a tune via UpRev in order to fix it. I had this issue when I added the G3's to my setup. Tune fixed the issues of it running lean.

We have not seen this issue with just 1 additional mod. We have seen this happen with customers running Gen 3's, Cat-back, and High Flow Cats or Headers. The Cat-back and Gen 3's have never given us an issue. I would be interested in figuring out why yours threw codes.

So are you getting any CEL's? There are other factors that could be contributing to this, but it is hard to say. Not knowing where your car started a dyno would only tell you so much. Either way, you will gain power from a tune at this point (though if you are thinking about any other engine mods I would do it before the tune).

50K + is a bit optimistic. I have spoken to K&N and they are very confident in their filters. For an air intake system they have said that 25-50k miles are the cleaning intervals that are ideal. The best thing to do is to inspect the filters and see if they need cleaning. Dirty for the K&N oiled filters isn't really a big issue. They state that the filters work better when a bit dirty. I personally clean my filters when I see build up on the wire mesh for the filter. Was typically ~20-25k miles when I lived in Los Angeles. Seems to stay cleaner here in Orange County so I'm guessing I'll go 25-30k miles.

Makes sense. I've never had to take care of an east coast car so you'd probably know better how quickly things get dirty LOL.

Inspection is always the key. Just look at them every 10k miles or so and see how the filter is doing. If the wire mesh doesn't have build up on it yet you are okay.
