Exhaust Exhaust Exhaust - Which one?

Hi All,

I'm from Sydney, Australia and I recently purchased a 370Z Roadster and to be honest....the exhaust note is not very good. For a car of it's power and status (sports car) it definently needs to be a little louder!

I am looking for an Exhaust which delivers decent performance gains (doesn't have to be the biggest gains) but does not have an annoying drone - I basically want to give it a factory performance exhaust note under acceleration. Whilst cruising I dont want it to annoy the **** out of me however I do want it to sound a little sportier so I am open for it to be a little louder on crusing at normal speeds as well but not mind blowing as I do drive a roadster with a soft top roof.

The setups I am looking at are: (please feel free to tell me to check out other systems too!)

Stillen CBE - no HCF (I heard that with HCF it drones + way too loud)
Nismo CBE - with Berk HCF (Listening to the video clips it sounds great but not sure about droning when crusiing?)

Does the droning exist with the Nismo + Berk HCF or Stillen with no HCF setup?

Any feedback or advise would be greatly appreciated. If anyone can also provide me with a few links of where to buy these in the US or Australia that would be great as well as I want to do something in the next few days! Happy to ship from US to AU if needed.

I have the Berk CBE with the Berk HFC's. I have zero drone at highway speeds.
From what I've heard from others, the Nismo exhaust is even quieter then the Berk.

You could also try adding just the HFC's and see if that gives you the sound that you are looking for. I had just the HFC'S to start with as I was waiting for my CBE to arrive and It made a nice difference in the sound.

Take a look at this thread if youd like. The mods should be listed. My Z is the black with Fast Intentions and HFCs. The other has a Stillen exhaust with no HFC's.

You have a nice setup! I think the Stillen without HCF might be the go for me, otherwise it will be too loud... Keep the feedback coming guys.

F.I. (Fast Intentions) ftw. Read their threads, no one has as many satisfied customers.

Plus, F.I. Gives you the only option in full length headers.

Fast Intentions is very nice, but he wants a more 'tame' version of exhaust. Hence the HKS HI-Power with the resonation chambers to kill drone....

Im very happy with Fast Intentions as are many other customers, however given your preferences I think I would recommend Stillen. I was quite impressed with how it sounds and as others have said it even looks almost stock (just make sure your tips align nicely). It also has proven gains among the top exhausts.

Drone is subjective...

I have the LTH's and 18" Res and I have no 'drone'?? At least, not that I notice at least?

If he wanted a tame exhaust, and if he liked the looks of F.I.'s then all he could do is just the F.I. CBE with 18" Res and SS cans and he'd have a good balance of performance increase, with the tame tone.

It's once you increase the flows in the Cats/headers... thats where the volume starts to increase.

But the HKS does look very good. I wish they had a version that didn't have the blue'd tips... Then they'd have my attention. :icon08:

I don't disagree with you on the FI in regards to performance, but it is definitely more aggressive side by side comparison with the HKS. I know what you mean about the blue tips too... it was the only part holding me back at first. I have gotten used to them I suppose!
