So Tony = the man.
Got a few sets of these ART pipes in and installing today. 3 sets got installed. but had 4 happy customers (mine arent installed yet) They produced 0 rasp on any of the cars. None of the cars sounded Tiny. They were just meaner, deaper, and a little louder. Nothing abnoxiously loud. Not even the car with the FI exhaust. THe Pipes arrived in great shape, they were shiny and nice looking and went on smooth. Armon! post up your thoughts!. P.S quote from friend with FI exhaust and ART Pipes when i called him just a few ago "Cant wait till work is F*****g over so i can go drive again, its awesome" now i just cant wait for mine to get installed ! |

So far I'm liking the pipes in combination with the nismo exhaust. From a sound perspective, the exhaust is still very deep and rumbly, but just louder. The tone itself did not change much. Just what I wanted there. When revving, I notice a hissing sound coming from the pipes between about 3-5k rpms. It's NOT rasp, just a hiss. Not ideal, but better than rasp I suppose.
Car feels great now, though. It's a wonder I didn't get pulled over on the way home. Oh, and [off topic] the ss clutch line is amazing. Clutch feels so much better. |

Armonster: How did the sound change and get louder exactly? Under wide open throttle? Or in general, even when driving around under light throttle? Let me know. I just want to make sure my Invidia stays as composed as it is now.

I was wondering the same ... these should sound great with my ARK's, as long as the tone doesn't change too much. I don't mind 'em a little louder.

Are the Art pipes emissions passable? Got Md emissions testing just want to know and did'nt see any info on motordyne website.

Tony: I am hearing a slight rattle from the pipes during a cold start, and also during deceleration from about 2750-->2000rpm when I am not touching the gas pedal. Do you have an opinion on whether this is an installation issue? Also, do you have an opinion on the hissing sound that I described earlier?
Arnold: The exhaust sounds very close to how it did before, just a touch louder under all circumstances. Think about talking to a person standing 2 feet away from you, and then taking a few steps back and continuing your conversation from 5 feet away. Your voice would get louder but still sound like "you." I definitely notice the increased volume at start up and under acceleration. Wide open throttle is obviously where the biggest volume change lies. When I turn on the cruise control on the highway, I barely hear anything (maybe because of the nismo exhaust) until I decide to zoom around some person going too slow in the left lane. Then there is the hissing sound that the pipes make during acceleration from about 2.5k-5k rpm, which is sort of like an additional soundtrack layered on top of the normal exhaust note. I am still trying to figure out whether this is normal, though. |

There is a stud that hangs down from the floor board that needs to be trimmed off. Its shown in the installation sheet. Make sure its not touching the pipe.
You will also find the sound changes to be slightly quieter once they break in. ~1K miles. Last edited by Motordyne; 06-13-2011 at 09:14 AM. |

Armonster: Sadly that hissing sound is just a by-product of the VQ and is unavoidable with any open (non-catted) exhaust system. I just installed my ART Pipes last night (will post a full review shortly, once I get more seat time) and switched from test pipes and I can tell you that with my test pipes the hissing was MUCH louder and more pronounced. You should only really hear the hissing when you're revving and the RPM's are dropping, right? Or if you happen to be cruising near a wall you can sometimes hear the hissing sound since it's reflecting back at you off the wall.
I drive a 350Z HR and I will say that I am having some sort of issue with a rattle and vibration. I'm not sure if the two are related. I'm going to get under the car asap and see what's going on.. it definitely isn't normal.

Yeah I thought that was only on G35's (and maybe 370Z's) but I will look into it asap.

All the 350 and 370 G's and Z's have that same heat shield stud that sticks down about an inch. Its on the driver side floor board. The stud excess length needs to be trimmed down or it may touch the sidebranch resonator.
Its easy to trim down. Its a metric M6 stud so its not thick. Dremel, bolt cutter, hack saw or even a heavy guage wire cutter will do it. |
