I believe the sound is a bit louder when you get on it.

Has anybody tried ART pipes on the stock exhaust?

I plan to change my car to G37x '09 sedan and it has stock exhaust, so I wonder how would it sound with the ART pipes (I believe stock exhaust is almost the same on G37 and 370z)?

Yes. I read someone's comments a couple of weeks ago and he said it was just a little louder than stock, yet where he heard it most was on downshifts where the sport transmission blips the throttle to rpm match. I'll see if I can find that post for you.

Here's one post, but it's not the one I was looking for:

Good morning Z community! I finished the install of the ART pipes last night. I have not started the car yet due to giving the RVT time to cure overnight. I hope to drive it a bit today and give her a wash. I will report back. Right now I am on the stock exhuast as I am waiting for the modules to come out for the Motordyne E370 exhaust.

Guys..how does this Art Pipe V3 pair with AAM shorty, will it gained back those torque or it will be worse since there's not much backpressure. Would love to hear this combo + rep for those owner that chip in. I had a custom shorty with everything else stock, would love to put this art pipe if i could gain back my TQ

The shorties shouldn't really affect your power/torque much up or down.

The ART pipes however will make a lot more power than the stock cats.

Yeah, I am not getting the rasp-type hiss that aadosx is describing. My hissing sounds like a huge volume of air flowing around a sharp corner or something, and never happens unless I am heavy on the gas pedal. I think it continues up to redline, but the engine and exhaust are so loud by that point that I don't notice the hiss as much. It's quite loud, though.

The only other thing I sometimes hear while not accelerating is a burbling sound between shifts at high rpms. I kinda like that sound, though.

I'm from the Myg37 forum, but I recently purchased the ART Test Pipes and am having some hissing sound that sounds very similar to this or pinging sound. I have the Gemini exhaust, and I'm not sure if it is the exhaust or anything is the reason....but I thought I would throw it out there for others to ask. I have a 2010 G37S 6MT Sedan. Any help would be greatly appreciated it!

The Invidia Gemini will do that with just the catback, but will be more pronounced with high flow cats or test pipes (no matter which brand). It's just the nature of the exhaust.

For what it's worth, my hissing sound was mostly gone after a couple thousand miles. If you have the old style gaskets you may want to replace those before you get an exhaust leak, though.

Did you end up using some type of gasket where the ART pipe meets the headers, or did you use permatext copper?

Armonster 05-11-2012 11:54 AM

I used the copper stuff and it has been fine since then. The older style was a physical gasket that failed pretty quickly, but have since been discontinued.

I had Berk HFC and my Gemini and I loved the sound. I wanted something deeper and throatier under exhaust, but still compliant with sound cruising. Mine don't have the dampening tabs but DID come with the RTV sealant. I'm assuming mine are the first generation ones though and like many of the people here said over the last 5 months they will come around nicely after 1,500 miles :) We are conveniently heading to ZDayz on Tuesday, so that will take no time at all. I loved the sound of cats, but these do have some added power on the butt dyno....it just makes me not wanna WOT cuz of the sound. Next week when I add 3,000 miles to my car I'll post back. Sad to go from 8,600 miles to 12,000 miles over the next couple weeks :icon14:
