Hi everyone,

Another short review/feedback for the Motordyne ART pipes. First off I would like to thank you Mariella from Motordyne for being so helpful when shipping the product over. Also thank you DjSquall for referring me to Alphawerx to do the install, they were professional and good people to work with. Oh by the way ART pipes is installed onto the stock exhaust, only other MOD is Sprint Booster. I don't have any pics yet will see if Alphawerx have any.

The product: It was packaged well so no issues with the ART pipes, overall I was pleased with the craftmanship. Not to mention its very light compared to the stock cats.

Install: From what I heard it was quite diffcult to remove the bolts, it was rusty and took a bit more time I believe but overall pretty straightfoward. No leaks from what I gather.

Sound: Very little difference between stock when you start the car, its slightly deeper. Like Kastley said there is no rasp when pushing the car, there is a slight hiss around 1500-2k RPM.

Performance: Definitely an improve on torque throughout the bands and very likely som gains in hp, didn't dyno the car so I don't any numbers. Overall I'm quite impressed with the ART pipes, seems to have all the benefits of test pipes minus the rasp. I imagine if the ART pipes are bolted with the upcoming Motordyne exhaust it would sound pretty sweet.

Potential Cons: Potential meaning I'm not sure if this problem is due to the product. This is day 2 of having the ART pipes but I noticed some fumes coming from the car, smells similar to gasoline but not sure. Anyone else experiencing this? You smell it when you start up the car and if you are stuck in traffic idling you will notice it as well. Note I didn't reset the BCM or unplug the battery, would that change anything? Also I notice that my gauge that displays how much mileage is left until I need to refill changed dramatically. Mileage dropped, not sure why either.

Overall Impression: I had a good run in poker so I had some extra cash to buy this and it was worth it, if anyone is looking to improve the 370z performance should definitely look into this.

Tony has stated that it takes about 1500 miles for the pipes to go through all 3 stages to where the heat and such basically breaks them in. I don't remember what he called the 3... but that is likely part of what you are smelling... also keep in mind these are still test pipes and with them will come a smell more than likely... the exhaust is very open and the cats are not there to catch a lot of the junk that normally they would do.

Thanks for the review... mine come in I think tomorrow or Friday and will go on this week, so i'll have a review as well :)

no the smell you are getting is going to be common from anything without cats and even some low count HFC as well.

There is nothing you can do about that except to perhaps roll your windows up.

I hardly ever get the smell even with my windows down unless the breeze is pushing the exhaust back towards the front.

But otherwise, yeah the sounds pretty awesome aint it!

Hi Paskii,

Yeah, that's a normal smell from the engine without a catalytic converter. Test pipes or ART pipes will do this. Catalytic converters will be an option incorporated into the Motordyne exhaust so that won't be a problem.

That smell lets people behind you know what the deal is:

Power, motherf*cker. :)

Wooo everyone responded quickly!

Cool I didn't know you had to drive for 1500 miles to break it in. Your right Tony and Daisuke also confirmed that the smell is normal for ART pipes so no concerns on my end. Nice, I think your going to enjoy this mod

Yeah I have to check if I get the smell with the windows up and if the wind is pushing it from the back, some people like the fumes but I get a headache after awhile and I feel blitz, like I smoked really cheap erbs lol. But yeah the sound is pretty sweet especially when you downshift :happydance:

Thanks Tony for confirming whether this is normal or not. It's a good idea to have the cat converters as an option, any updates for the exhaust?

I posted earlier about a nasty sound I'm getting from the x-pipe in my ARK cat back. I think I'm gonna get that piece of the exhaust modified and replaced with 2 separate pipes. Thoughts?

I plan on that but in the mean time that sound has to go!

The x-pipe is what gives the ark its "signiture sound" as ark puts it. Changing out the x-pipe to two pipes will make it similar to the HKS system. If I was in your position I'd fab up a pipe based on HKS's design. The x-pipe is pretty much why I went HKS instead of ark. I'd be interested in hearing it once you get it changed over.

Have had the replacement pipes on for about 400 miles. First impression

0-300 miles no problems

After 300 I started to get the rattle my first batch had and it seemed to increase when going uphill.

After about 380 that rattle started go away and a bigger rattle came in its place (sounds like metal banging on metal)

Can anyone give me some insight if this is correct. From what I can remember my first batch of art pipes didn't rattle as bad as these are.

Current Mileage about 400

Do you have a pic of that exhaust? I think ill be fine with 2 separate pipes. I listed the system for sale but no bites on it.

This concerns me; i'd like my car to have some sound to it. I know Paskii has stock cat back, but is anyone else besides Footloose going to post a video of how it sounds? Looking to hear some more with these pipes and various cat backs.
