This is the only exhaust holding me back from picking up the FI CF catback.

Hope it surpasses their HP/TQ gains.

yeah, that and the ARK Type 1 are the ones I am interested in and of course the one MD are working on... it sucks waiting, but it may well be worth the wait.

ART pipes were installed today. Excellent job by the guys at R/T Tuning in Landsdale PA!

First impressions-

The car feels much faster, especially in the higher RPM's. My drive home was pretty much all highway so it was a fun trip home. I thought that the car would be much louder, especially in the cabin but I was surprised. It sounds amazing!

Small issue -

Once the install was complete the guys at R/T brought me into the bay and pointed out something to me. I have the ARK CBE and I do get a small whistle type sound coming from the X-pipe of the exhaust. I know it was coming from the x-pipe because we were standing under the car as it was revved. There is definitely no leaks and who knows, this may go away once the ART pipes break in. Could also be the design of the ARK.

I will play it by ear it give it some time before I really worry about it.

The sound will get quieter, some of that boom will go away. And the whistling will go away, as well. There is a break in process with these pipes where they're going to make a few noises here and there - don't worry about it, just drive hard and it'll all settle down.

Good stuff... add in some pulleys and maybe some headers and you'll add what? Maybe 15 more up? I don't know how much headers add.... an xyz y pipe would be cool too.

Footloose301 08-12-2011 03:19 PM

Yeah pulleys, headers, and clutch/flywheel combo are next

It would be great to get up to like 350 hp on a mustang dyno for me NA. I don't think that will happen. Maybe when GTM cracks the VVEL but other than that... probably not :(

It is very unlike that you will see more than 330rwhp out of these cars with full bolt ons. If you do, the dyno is a bit optimistic. If a mustang dyno reads that high, you know that it was either not calibrated properly or was deliberately programmed to read high.

The 370 is a fairly light car though.. if I see 320-330 on a mustang dyno, take out the spare tire, another 10-15 lbs for exhaust, a smaller battery etc, etc... maybe lose a little driver weight and you've got a pretty damn fast Z... faster than many cars on the road anyway. I'd say it's pretty good for an NA V6... IMO of course.

I agree.

339whp/252lbfttq..... Claims "red6spd" on a mustang dyno. That's the highest I've seen here on the forum. Either it's a freak motor, or the dyno isn't calibrated. No way he should be hitting that. Some people only make 10-20hp more with superchargers....

Oh of course, I definitely agree with you there! The thing about the Z is that it really doesn't feel as fast as it is due to the lack of torque, but it can move.

The 370Z feels like a rocket to me. Certainly better than the 350. The 370 has much more TQ than many other NA import sport cars. Take the S2000 for example. Its fast when wound up on the road course, but the S2000 really has no TQ.

Conversely, the American muscle cars are overflowing with power and torque which is great, but their stock suspension is so bad its like driving a boat on Novocaine.

For a NA car, the 370 has a good balance of everything in stock form.
