My pipes had a minor exhaust leak due to install, and are quieter after that was fixed. The guys at Z1 drove it around some, while I listened from outside. I have to say that I am impressed with how quiet these are, especially after about 500 miles or so (they really do change a lot). Very satisfied.
|
Hey Tony, have you guys started on your CBE or your intakes at all yet? I'm very interested in seeing what you all come up with before I make my decision on which exhaust I want to get.
|
Yes the exhaust is in work now. Working on routing tubing and testing various primary diameters. No release date yet, I will make a post on it.
The intake will come after the exhaust. |

As far as the break in, how would you describe the change? |

1st week: Very slight metallic-sounding rattle inside ART pipes during cold start and deceleration. Rasp during acceleration above 3000, in the form of a hissing sound - NOT the typical hiss on deceleration (in fact, there was never any of that). Instead, it was the sound of air rushing through the pipes and it was coming straight from underneath me. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th weeks: Rattle sound gone completely. Rasp/hiss on acceleration remains. Because the Nismo exhaust is relatively quiet and deep, and the hissing was quite loud, it was bothersome. I was contemplating putting the stock cats back on or getting a different catback. The hiss was coming straight from the ART pipes themselves, or maybe the y-pipe - but that general area. 5th and 6th weeks: Hiss/rasp slowly went away. The type of rasp changed from a hissing sound emanating from the pipes themselves to a much more subdued, open-exhaust type rasp that you would expect. Except now, the rasp (which, again, is very slight) comes from the exhaust tips rather than the ART pipes under the floor board. This is about what I expected from reading about the ART pipes, and I'm happy with it. I don't think HFC's would be any quieter. |
I went to take a vid of these today and my battery died...DOH

First 200 miles: no problems.
Next 200 miles: bead in tin can rattling at start up and also while driving. CEL light P2A03. Code cleared hoping it was just a fluke. Last 200 miles. Bead in tin can rattling is all but gone. Still some hints of it. CEL light returns but now its P2A03 and P2A00. |
What are those codes?

Left and Right O2 sensors. but can be an array of issues, not just faulty o2 sensors.
