awesome dude! nice numbers!

Kastley85891 12-31-2010 04:39 PM

Thanks man - she feels very good. Nice to have the solid data to wrap the review up for sure.
I think with the full listed parts on she should be pretty zippy

G37sHKS 12-31-2010 04:59 PM

wth? i see a lose in low end in ART test pipes why???? i thought the magic of ART test pipes is because they have more power in low end than any other after market cats...

Kastley85891 12-31-2010 05:02 PM

No idea, thats the data, mid is strong, suits me ;-)

G37sHKS 12-31-2010 05:21 PM

yeah mid is awesome man, gratz on ur mods btw..

i guess a full catback might get those low end up and be higher than ur previous setup

flashburn 12-31-2010 05:22 PM

So since these are basically test pipes, how bad does your exhaust smell? Is it noticeable?

Kastley85891 12-31-2010 05:32 PM

Good ? , on cold start you can notice it, when warm and during day not an issue.

G37 - I think so man, with other mods it would be fun.

G37sHKS 12-31-2010 05:42 PM

hey can you tell me what was ur previous exhaust and test pipes?
and what is brand is the new y pipe?

Kastley85891 12-31-2010 05:47 PM

INVIDIA TP's F.I. Exhuast mated to a gutted stock muffler

New Y pipe is an ebay special - surewinproducts 99.99 to my door ;-)

Boost_lee 12-31-2010 07:09 PM

Thanks once again! Love your exhaust experimentation and documentation.

I wasn't going to do test pipes, but now I'm thinking long and hard about it...

Kastley85891 12-31-2010 07:47 PM

NP man - cars are my hobby, I can not mod as I used to but like to keep going how ever small.

cotizi 01-01-2011 01:58 PM

i want a gutted muffler like the one I saw in person. I loved that setup.

Kastley85891 01-01-2011 02:34 PM

Man - u did ... lol it was soo loud... but very different.

Kastley85891 01-03-2011 09:50 PM

Heres base line vs Y pipe and ART pipes, loving that mid range......

docaam 01-04-2011 01:14 AM

those are some nice gains :)

'10Anamoly 01-04-2011 07:15 AM

Why the drop at 2000rpms? just wondering

Kastley85891 01-04-2011 08:38 AM

^No idea dude, not what I expected from driving feel but data is data

G37sHKS 01-04-2011 09:41 AM

yeah im wondering why the drop power in low end..

i guess the ART test pipes got not more magic anymore?? lol

tony should jump in and explain!!

Kastley85891 01-04-2011 09:49 AM

Tony has my .DRF data, so lets see what he says.

TBH - I do not floor it at 2K anyways, having said that, would be nice to know for sure

G37sHKS 01-04-2011 09:56 AM

im aint hating man.. i love ur gains.
I just wanna know why the drop in low end... is it because of the Ebay Y pipe??
or motordyne changed their design of their ART pipes?

Kastley85891 01-04-2011 10:00 AM

^ all good here man, its a valid ? I would like to know to, maybe I will throw the stock Y on and see if I can notice anything. Need new ramps first though, I destroyed mine on the weekend. Lucky escape when the Wifes Quest jumped off the front of them due to me being an idiot!!!

It will be interesting when more dynos appear with other set ups for sure.

Motordyne 01-04-2011 10:47 AM

I'm also surprised to see the dip @ 2K but I'm also surprised to see the gain is so large for the rest of the curve.

Looks great for sure.

I'll get the data into excel for analysis.

any word on how production is coming along for the ART pipes? Am supossed to first on the call back list :)

'10Anamoly 01-04-2011 12:20 PM

Well, I know the stock Y-merge is around 2.5" max so if the Ebay Y-pipe is 2.5" to 3", and then that mates back at 2.5" and reduces down to 2.25" pipes, you have some funky flow going on. Maybe that is it, not sure though..

Top end looks good, but really need to see these on a car with a full catback. We may have some untuned > 300whp dynos in store.....

Kastley85891 01-04-2011 12:40 PM

I think so, dude it takes 10 mins to change the Y pipe, if I can spring the garage time I will do the change and see how it feels, or may just wait for the CBE purchase and re dyno...

Agreed on the untuned 300 WHP, I would like to think with a CBE on mine would clear that marker.

GZ3 01-04-2011 01:03 PM

Kastley, yeah its gotta be your y pipe...but everywhere else everything looks really good. As soon as i get mine i will also do a dyno overlay vs stock....All i have is drop ins so i think it will be a good representation of what these pipes do

Another run is in production now. ~4-6 weeks.

I must say I was caught off guard. Between the HR and VHR these went much faster than expected.... but it's a good problem to have. ;)

I'll push production as fast as possible.

dont sell those off too fast.. or at least before you send us some...

GZ3 01-07-2011 10:32 AM

kast, does that 296rwhp on the dyno sheet? its kinda hard for me to read it.

Kastley85891 01-07-2011 02:45 PM

Yes Sir, 296.33

Base 276.94

G37sHKS 01-12-2011 10:59 AM

Hey Kastley, after million of search.. I found out why the drop at 2k-3k RPM..

its not about the stock exhaust, its about the Y pipes. and no its because its cheap..

actually all the Y pipes that have 2.5" and 3" merge will have high gains from mid to top but drop in low end...

here some examples..

Tanabe Y pipe VS MotorDyne Y pipe
Tanabe has 60MM dual to 70MM merge.

Stock Y pipe Vs Motordyne Y pipe (stock car)
http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/5654/25818986.jpg

so wow.. gratz on ur 40$ Y pipes.. cheap Y pipe ftw :D

Thanks for info dude, confirms what we were suspecting but good to see, thanks for the effort. ;-)

It will be nice to throw on a Motordyno exhuast when / if they get done.

Sure got a hand up for trial here.

G37sHKS 01-12-2011 01:01 PM

Yep motordyne exhaust is in production but they never told me when it will be released..

also, they said that there is going to be Motordybe CAI for g37/370z.. :D
