Which side did you have trouble with the tab, one side or both? The hole in the tab can be made a little larger in diameter to accommodate more car to car variability.
Would that have done it for you?

Thank you,
Tony

If I remember correctly one side was good , passenger, but then the other side was about a half inch off. I ended up grinding off the lip on the factory connecting bracket and mounted it that way. Kind of hard to describe on here.

Motordyne 01-04-2012 01:39 AM

Did you try to mount the bracket in front of or behind the factory brace? It will make a big difference.

well, I tried both, but behind the brace was a no go, infront of the brace worked, but I had to grind off the sides of the brace. the tabs didn't line up in the U shape of the brace. so I ground the U out of the brace and made it more like an L brace, but only at the ends of the brace, then it fit fine. there was no getting around grinding it, but no worries I like to grind on things.

Motordyne 01-04-2012 07:39 PM

Is it possible you can send me a pic? It doesn't need to be on the lift. Even a cell phone pic would help. I'm not entirely clear on your description.
Its been installed on many other 370Z's but I havn't heard anything like this.
I may be able to figure it out with a picture.

Flyboy 01-05-2012 10:44 AM

I will take a pic when I get off work

Motordyne 01-05-2012 06:30 PM

When installing the ART pipes with the bolts finger tight and before torquing them down with a wrench, the ART pipes will have about +/-10' degrees of rotation available at the header flange. The rotation will give you some adjustability for the installation process. The rotation levers the bracket location.

Did you try different inlet flange rotations during the installation? It basically allows you to swing the pipes to the left or right as needed.

Rubidium 01-08-2012 06:03 PM

I saw what he was talking about, (dyno day) I was unable to use the mounting bracket on my 350 for the same reason. I guess widening the holes on the bracket helped him.

Motordyne 01-09-2012 06:24 PM

Yes, he sent me pictures of it. It was installed on the wrong side of the brace.

The bracket must be installed on the top side of the hole.

EDIT: I'll make this clear in the installation instructions.

Add me to the list of customers with leaky gaskets. gasket only, no RTV sealant.

cheshirecat 01-12-2012 11:05 PM

My gaskets went also. Used the silver RTV. Cleared up the problem 100%.

Boost_lee 01-12-2012 11:49 PM

did you use rtv+gaskets?

I think mine are going out too

NeverBoneStck 01-13-2012 12:20 AM

Use rtv plus gaskets .. I have used this combo for years and not one leak . Used just gaskets and leaks .. Used just rtv and it starts to leak over time as well .. The combo is good to go ...

370Z JT 01-17-2012 12:19 AM

Just listened to the exhaust video again it sounds so raw and unrefined. Maybe it's bc of the mic location.

Nope, just straight RTV. The gaskets were breaking down on the inside- it was pretty bad.

The flanges line up 100%, so it's a complete seal even without the gaskets. This is only between the headers and ART pipe- between the ART and Y-pipe there are gaskets.

harp00n 01-18-2012 05:18 AM

just got them today:

http://i42.tinypic.com/358xuts.jpg

is it v1 or v2 version? i believe the last one had some dark ceramic coating, not the chrome like mine?

G37sHKS 01-18-2012 08:16 AM

From the picture, i say its the lastest version because of the barcket on the resonators..

Correct me if im wrong Tony

harp00n 01-18-2012 09:35 AM

yeah, it seems to be the latest version, because of the brackets.

well, I hope tomorrow I will take my car to the muffler shop so they would start modding the pipes to fit my AWD sedan ;)

MaDMaXX 01-18-2012 10:26 AM

Are the same updates (tabs, no glasspack, no screen) updated on the 350z version as well?

Buying from CCC, would i get the same support from MD? Or to be sure i get the latest versions?

Yes, this is the latest version.

If you buy any new Motordyne part from an authorized dealer it will always be the latest edition.

Tony

And this is why you'll get my business and recommendations, you're doing something good that's actually worth the (albeit slightly spendy) asking price.

You're always around answering questions and generally being dedicated, it makes people feel good and i hope it earns you the reputation you deserve.

Thank you

So, another AWD G is happy! ;) My shop had to mod them to fit AWD transfer case:

http://i42.tinypic.com/runxgm.jpg
http://i40.tinypic.com/1y065w.jpg

I like them really MUCH, good quality and they are just 10% louder than my ex Berk's HFC after 3000rpm and the same on the low rpms! And I can feel torque sligthly better at lo-mid rpms (2500-4000).

As I know, I am the second or third one with the ART pipes installed to the AWD G ;)

I haven't had the chance to read through this whole thread, but I'm interested in seeing any Dyno results before/after getting the ART pipes.

harp00n 01-20-2012 03:01 PM

Exhaust sound of ART pipes -> Morosol spiral flow resonators -> Borla true dual cat-back on VQ35HR:

Is there anybody in So. Cal. with an AWD G37?

I'll design them to fit. The problem is getting access to an AWD in the Los Angeles area.

Thank you for the kind words. Always appreciated.

So, there is no break-in period for the current pipes and they will sound the same after 1500 miles, won't they?

And I hope, that moving the passengers side branch resonator won't affect anything and both pipes will pass the exhaust gases the same way!

Motordyne 01-22-2012 10:08 AM

Correct, there is no break-in period. They are now made with nothing in them. They are just empty resonance chambers.

What I did find is that moving the resonator does change its function but with the amount you moved it, it wont be much.

:tiphat: Thanks, so there is no need to do the same with the driver's branch resonator? It will cost me just 30$ to move it as the passenger's resonator.

I am little bit disturbed about the pipes not being symmetrical

Motordyne 01-22-2012 12:24 PM

You can move it if it makes you comfortable but I don't think it will really make a significant difference because you didn't move it much.

harp00n 01-22-2012 03:04 PM

Ok, I think I will leave it as it is. It seems like my installer moved it not so far as they did here:

370Z JT 01-25-2012 01:14 PM

Any new updates on the exhaust?

Motordyne 01-25-2012 08:08 PM

Production is well under way. Photos have been taken and are just about ready to get posted on the new website.

Srenity 01-25-2012 08:11 PM

It would be pretty cool if you posted those picture up on the forum.:tiphat:

NeverBoneStck 01-27-2012 04:46 PM

Tony wasn't lying when he said the end of the month ... I thought we might get some pics by now ....

370Z JT 01-30-2012 02:52 PM

New exhaust thread this week?

Motordyne 01-30-2012 05:50 PM

Yes.

The images are numerous, large and in very high resolution. Too high for photobucket.
I'm working to have them posted on our website now. The size and resolution makes it a bit of a technical challenge but they should be posted tonight or tomorrow.

If for any reason they can't fit as an image I will make them downloadable as files.

They are detailed and really high resolution.

AlphaSnacks 01-30-2012 06:31 PM

Tony use this for the forum:

imgur: the simple image sharer

The images will last a lifetime here. No bandwidth issues.
