Single exit out the "butthole" on rear bumper

We are in the process of fabbing up a single exit exhaust that is going to have a square tip and come straight out of the butthole in the rear... fake fog light is coming out... we are going to put some aluminum around the butthole to keep from melting it. Pics will come up throughout the process and a video of the sound will be up when it is done.

Sorry to start the anticipation early but it probably wont be done until mid jan

then FAIL :(

Solus 12-21-2010 09:53 AM

Sorry :( but at least you know it is being done :D 1 month isn't all that long of a wait is it? I mean how long did we all wait for berk/fi/etc?

And to be clear this is something we (being my friends and I) are making, not a company or anything and I doubt it will be mass marketed or anything because its not going to be for everyone. Right now I am set up with berk test pipes and straight pipes all the way back and it sounds amazing to me, very loud though.

It wont be legal in a lot of states and not a lot of people would want to buy it especially considering the fact that it has no mufflers, resonators, etc and the cost to build it you could just go buy one that is already marketed.

theDreamer 12-21-2010 09:55 AM

So you basically are just building a straight pipe back system which merges into a single pipe near the rear?
In for results and pictures.

Yeah that is the general gist of it... I wanted to put a muffler in there and put a square tip exit on it but I can't really find one I think would work and it will just make things difficult to do it.

You can add mufflers further upstream; maybe two small bullet style mufflers for each exhaust bank in the mid-pipe area?

Solus 12-21-2010 12:03 PM

That could be done but again it would be more hassle than it is worth to me, and I like it being as loud as it is :D. Now if I were going to make one and sell it to someone that needed/wanted mufflers to keep it legal for them or quiet it down or w/e the case may be then that is likely the route I would go down.

JACKPAC 12-21-2010 12:12 PM

Somebody did this a long while ago, and it wasn't bad. The only problem was that they didn't seal up the original exhaust exits which left the cutouts for nothing and made the whole thing look a little strange.

Vegitto-kun 12-21-2010 12:16 PM

Lets make a triple exhaust. stock exhaust + butthole exhaust :p

IMO, it's going to look :icon14: with the original cutouts not filled.

Good luck though :ugh2:

Solus 12-21-2010 12:25 PM

It might and it might not.. who knows but for now it is what I am going to go with. Long-term plan is to have a guy I know that does fiberglass etc make kind of a one-off type rear bumper that has only that exit...

For now though I think I will like it and it is going to workout for me.

JACKPAC- Do you have any pictures or anything of the person that did it? I haven't seen it at all I know there was a lot of talk about it for quite some time but never saw any action?

I'd tell you, but you already found it as you just posted on that forum.

christian370z 12-21-2010 05:24 PM

I think this plain center exhaust with the accompanying screamer pipe looks so raw it is fantastic: :p

On externally waste gated cars (or even internal waste gates), you can either let the waste gate dump exhaust directly through its own exhaust pipe or it can be connected to dump into the main exhaust which is significantly quieter. If the waste gate is routing exhaust through its own pipe directly into the air, it sounds very loud hence the screamer pipe description.

 I figured that was the case... course I didn't think of that until after I posted :rofl2:

Nice chop...it looks like a mash up of the nismo and regular bumper with the 370z/licence plate backwards, and that diffuser looks cool.

Solus 01-04-2011 10:53 AM

I think I may fab up some kind of diffuser to go with this as well... we are trying to figure it out but this is much more complicated than I thought it would be... especially doing it out of a couple garages lol

TypeOne 01-04-2011 04:33 PM

Thats my pchop...When I was trying to get my point across about having a perfect bumper/exhaust setup and fused the veyron/nismo bumpers together. I know its bad! I barely use photoshop. :p

I did it of my car when I contemplated doing this 6 months ago. We had a pretty good thread going on but no one really did anything. I might still have a friend of mine who does body/exhaust work to make something like that for me before the spring.

Holliday 01-08-2011 12:03 PM

In for updates :happydance:

jmlenz 01-09-2011 05:51 PM

would love to this done! I always thought that would be the best use of the Z butthole lol

Updates? like the idea

Solus 01-10-2011 06:51 AM

No updates yet guys sorry. The weather here pretty much has had everyone holed up inside because they are afraid of a little snow and I have a baby due any day now so things are slowly being delayed :(

Jessobear 01-10-2011 07:56 AM

The Photoshop looks really cool, the real one looks really bad. Unless you can figure out a way to fab an entirely new rear bumper to go with the center exit exhaust, I'd say leave this one alone.

Thats the new plan. We are going to try to make one similar to that in the photoshop. To include a diffuser :D

Kastley85891 01-28-2011 12:27 PM

That would be nice.
