Best intake/exhaust combination

Do most of you agree that the best intake/exhaust combination (to produce power) is as follows:
stillen G3 intake
HFC's or test pipes (either berk, stillen,ERZ,CNT)
stillen CBE

pg6speed 12-05-2010 04:54 PM

This is just my opinion.
If you run all three you WILL NEED a tune.

Fast Intentions Long Tube Headers > HFC or test pipes

Fast Intentions Cat Back > All others: Price, Build Quality, able to customize to your liking (not just an off the shelf part), Sound, and Customer Service.

Stillen G3 > All others: Safer placement of filters, use K&N filters

I am guessing that this is a personal preference and there is not a true best combo to make power. there is a lot of views but only 1 reply

No pg6speed pretty much nailed it. F.I. long tube headers will give you the most power... Stillen G3 has also shown to give the best results by a few hp when it comes to intakes... and F.I. exhaust is a no brainer. Customizable to your liking when it comes to look and sound, and the performance without a doubt is one of if not the best.

It's hard to say what the best combination is. You can look around and find different dynos for just about every cbe and intake. But I agree with pg6speed, you will probably need a custome tune if you go full bolt-ons. Dynos and tuning is all different. You will be hard pressed to find a solid winner. There are lots of combinations that put out great power.

I can tell you the most popular choices are:
FI or Stillen CBE
Stillen G3 intake
Berk HFC or FI LTH

i have yet to see a signle dyno of what FI LTH make on a otherwise complete stock setup. If someone knows of one please link me, thank you. But the more i see the designs of our stock headers(they are not manifolds) match these with some good HFC or test pipes..even ART pipes which have been proven to make more hp/tq than both, i cant see the gains of LTH being that much more. maybe some one can chime in...?!?

Try reading the F.I. LTH thread?

Because no one has this setup, sorry but how about you take a step for the community and try this out?
That is how we get all the results and data we have because people take risks.

true, but am not intrested in LTH...my whole point is that i dont think thier gain vs stock headers and good hfc or ART pipes will that much more. I'm making my ART pipe purchase friday, i'm stock otherwise...i will be installing these at UPREV in Austin and posting those results...:tiphat:

How can you say that when this image (using F.I. exhaust) clearly shows a difference between HFC & LTH. Tony has eliminated the stock exhaust but has kept the exhaust the same on both tests so only other changing variable is the LTHs v. HFC.

I will agree that the stock headers are very well built and designed, but a properly designed LTH setup will outperform stock headers plus HFC.

GZ3 12-06-2010 11:17 AM

well as far as HP goes test pipes vs hfc, test pipes would have gotten more HP but lost a little tq....HFC usually dont lose tq BUT yeild a little less HP than test pipes. Thats where i believe ART pipes come in. They have all the benefit of a test pipe and HFC. They actually yeild more HP than a straight pipe and more tq than a HFC...best of both. So i was thinking these matched with stock headers vs LTH on a otherwise stock set up, the difference cant be THAT much more...IDK...just brainstorming here

PR370z 12-06-2010 11:51 AM

So the best combo for making POWER, stillen G3 and stillen or FI CBE with HFC's.

stillen g3 intake is good. exhaust wise, I'd personally go with Tanabe for minimal droning but fast intentions is good too. I just think the tanabe sytem is pretty good to look at too! haha! Tanabe Medalion Touring exhaust

^^ yes! tanabe will also be my exhaust of choice...beautiful exhaust
