Subaru exhaust on 370z...?
I'm the minority in here and I'm now learning the mechanics of my Z, so don't bash me for this question.
I love the rumbling sound of Subaru's, are there any similar exhausts out there that I can put on my z with the MOST horsepower? Thanks. I was looking for something under 1300. |
I work for a Subaru dealership and it is not the exhaust that makes the sound you are hearing. What makes the "Subaru" sound is the flat 4 engine not the exhaust. Even when they put on a equal length header they still get that exhaust note. The only way to get that sound is to swap out your 3.7L motor for a 2.5L flat 4 motor. Just for the record...Don't do that!

You will never match the rumble of a boxer engine with any other engine. That sound is intrinsic to a flat-4 or 6 type motor with unequal length headers to get the exhaust pulses to sound that way.
As for exhausts, anything over stock will produce a deeper growl than stock. Berk, Stillen, Invidia, and Fast Intentions (might be a little more?) are probably in your price range, as well as ARK... but thats a gamble. |
Well you can try fast intentions exhaust but please don't use the subie exhaust on the z. In the exhaust intake section they have sound clips. You should try listening to those clips and go from there.

I do miss the sound of a 6 boxer engine.

It's not just the engine configuration, it's also the unequal length exhaust manifold that's standard on all of the engines. I had a Tomei Expreme unequal length manifold on my sr20 and it actually had quite a nice rumble to it.
