Default Status elite proto intake on our project z

quality is superb hand welded, velocity stack, this intake is a prototype, they are still working on one of the brakets and at maybe carbon heatshields.

STATUS ELITE manufactures high quality DRY carbon fiber parts, they have them available for the G37 now but we are working with them to get some parts done for the 370z , engine cover, radiator shourd and maybe b pillars and mirrors.

Im attaching pictures of our G37 engine bay as well

Let me know what you guys thinks

They don't look bad but I doubt much power gains can be had with such short intakes. I'm personally waiting for Stillen's G3s to come out.

Well, I don't think they would run the risk of doing this without J knowing, so I wont comment on that.

Nice intakes indeed.

The g37 dyno's got 13whp with these intakes. They should get the same output or maybe slighty more

If you don't mind me asking why would short intakes be losing more power than, I'm assuming the opposite, longer intakes?

I came from a Mini Cooper S background, and I changed my intake to a shorter ram one from a tuning house called M7, and the gains were quite noticeable. Plus the scream from the Eaton supercharger was greatly enhanced as well!

My opinion is that it seems more logical that a shorter intake will make more gains as opposed to longer, as it'd take less time for the air to travel from the filter to the throttle body.

I'm just wondering and am open to anyone's opinions and discussions!

i think because the short C air intake are near the engine so it will take some hot air and this cause the engine to lose power . on the other hand long intakes are a little down and far from engine so it can get cold air .

hope other members can explain more for you and me

From what i know, having intakes on a Normally aspirated engine compared to a forced induction setup such as your supercharger has a totally different outcome. As for the supercharger or turbo, the sooner you get air into the turbo or supercharger, the more efficient your car will run, hence a short ram. As for NA cars like the VQHR on the Z, having long tubes can benefit a little by lowering the intake temperature that usually equates to more HP. For example, its been documented by a independent dyno that the INJEN CAI on the G37 gained as much as 16.5 whp at an average with about 7 pulls. What i like about short ram its easier to clean/replace the filters when its due.

So far, this is the only short ram system that made the most HP on the G37. We will be doing some dyno testing soon with the Z to see what the outcome is.

hope that helps

Default Thanks for the replies...

Black knight: I understand where you're coming from!
However, from a purely common sense point of view and nothing to prove it with, when the car is in motion, wouldn't all the pressure from the outside air flush out all the inner hot engine air anyways? I can only imagine that the loss in power will only be in slow maneuvers and/or in stand still traffic... which heat soat will set in anyhow.

Lou@Amplified: I like easy-to-remove filters very much!! Whilst the M7's intake was very good, it was a REAL PITA when it came to removing it for cleaning...

I suppose end of the day personally, I don't believe that just changing the air filter will have too much of a positive effect on performance without a non-restrictive exhaust and a tune... but I do like the noise it makes! Aural pleasures I call it and I'd be looking forward to more data pertaining to this and other filters.

Drool on that carbon fiber. How does the quality compare to seibon?

can we see more pictures of that intake? maybe some of the velocity stack?

Sorry to say, i like seibon stuff, but this is DRY CARBON. I would compare to ZELE products but not WET LAY CARBON PARTS.

They are not carb certified yet.

My G37 was sponsored by JWT last year for SEMA
