OBX Y Pipe

Has anyone installed this Y pipe? The straight back shape looks good and it sells for $200 on ebay. Any thoughts?

yes.. that y-pipe.. the top speed y-pipe are good. No one has disproved that its terrible other than assuming cheap price = bad.

I am going the HFC and Y pipe combo with stock exhaust. I dont want my car to be loud, but I want the performace. This setup has been used by other members with good results. In my opinion spending around 2k for a exhaust setup for 25 whp is out of this world. My combo CNT HFC 375 + OBX Y pipe 200 = 575. A little more sound and performance (maybe the 25 whp):ughdance:

Expect about 15-20 whp for Y pipe plus HFC, with most of the gains coming from the HFC. A bit more with test pipes.

I ran the OBX with no problems, fit well, gave a little more, good deal.

I agree. The two biggest restrictions in the OEM exhaust in my opinion are #1 the cats and #2 the Y pipe. I wish I could say how much I picked up in terms of power with just my HFC/Y pipe setup but my butt dyno says it made a big impact in power and acceleration.

Probably about 12-15 with the HFC's and another 3-5 from the Y-pipe.

so if you replace the y pipe and the cats then all you need to have a complete exhaust is the mid pipe and muffler right?

Yep... you've got it. However, if you are leaning towards going the full exhaust route, you may want to hold off on the Y pipe. Many of the better aftermarket exhausts replace all of the piping behind the cats, so there would be no use for a Y pipe.

That depends on which CBE you are interested in; I got a Tanabe Y pipe with the intent on eventually getting a Tanabe y-pipe back exhaust later as the y pipe and the midpipe/muffler sections are seperate.
