It's too bad that nowadays people who know nothing about cars are allowed to post on forums and rant about companies who will not/cannot defend themselves publicly here.
You think you got a bad product? Step one: Don't put it on! Call the company, tell them your issue. Then you will get an answer on what they will do for you. If then you are not happy and feel you are being jerked around, then come here and post! It doesn't seem like you did that. It seems like you rode the anxiety/panic wave from an unhappy G37 post and expanded on it. Are you serious? You think an exhaust is turning your check engine light on? You could take your exhaust off after the cat and the ECU wouldn't know. It's to bad that people act like this on the forums. Coming on here and complaining that you are not happy for the world to see, hoping that ARK is going to step in. All along you haven't even contacted the company you bought it from to see if they can do anything? and all the people jumping on the bandwagon, dissapointing. |

No, the exhaust should not cause a CEL, that was just a matter of bad timing. The problem lies in that the product has what I would consider less than acceptable welds and varying degrees of damage. From the sounds of it, I'm not the only one concerned. However, TeamARK has already come in and said the welds and the scratches would be rectified for the November sale. Does that mean until now, they've acknowledged their welding is rubbish but continued anyway? Does that mean until now, they've just said "eh it's a tiny scratch" and sent the product on its merry way? Their previous response of "those welds will not break...scratches on hangar", etc. also makes it sound like they're not going to do anything about this system that fxroar has. Unless I'm reading it wrong. Feel free to correct me if you think so. Hell, if TeamARK thinks I read it all wrong I will edit this post later on. Ask yourself as well, though, would you be happy if you spent a thousand bucks and got an exhaust that looked like it was welded together by a trainee and been through a quick sand blast? I sure as hell wouldn't. Why can't ARK deliver defect-free products the way a shop like Fast Intentions or Invidia can? You pay with the expectation of getting (in ARK's somewhat paraphrased words) a top quality exhaust for the money. I would think the customer has the right to complain if it isn't 'top quality'. Fine, I give you the company should have been given first dibs to deal with it internally, but from what I've seen, this has been happening for a while, and they haven't shown any kind of intent to fix their welds or other minor defects.

The bottom line is to use common sense, if you are not happy deal with the company directly. Don't come on here without contacting the company first.
This applies to all things, not just exhausts for 370's. |

As a company, we are not here to argue with customers. However, we have always stood behind our products. Since day one with the 370z we have gotten nothing but good feedback on the exhaust and customer service. Unfortunately, as stated the thread that started out on myg37 went over here and caused some hesitation on our product when it never existed in the 370z community to begin with.
The outcome was that we will offer the same type of finish and inspection to all ARK products. This inspection before shipment will now be a part of our shipping process. For those who continue to support us, Thank you. We will be here to support all ARK customers. If you have any questions please give us a call at 909.391.1275 |

Knowing Ark and Alex (via other communities they are very well known in) i gotta say if you talk to them and let them know of an issue they will take care of it. Alot of people wanna jump in here and stomp on em but seriously evey company has had issues here and there and will again. But Arks been willing to take care of the customer and thats probably the most important.
Thus so many posts about dealerships... So many posts about lack of communication etc.. P.s scratches on an exhaust lol. Better never put it on then if u dont want it scratched. Now dents and wrong bends is well and issue and should be taken care off. Oh well this is the internet and is to be expected. All i know is they have good products and reputations every ive seen and their products from 2004 to now look and sound good. If you have doubts go see and hear one in person. Also fxroar.. This started out as a thread for you being excited about this. Once the drama from this thread is gone let us all knoe your true opinion on it |

Also.. Non of this drama would have started if you didn't barge in mt thread and accusing things. Youre damn right I don't know everything about cars but I did not know that this forum is all about. Im CH53 Sheet Metal mechanic and as far as I know thats all im obligated to fully understand since that is my career.
Have you been reading my thread? When was it ever mentioned by ark "if theres anything we can do contact us at blah blah blah".. Not until recently? All I got from them was "those welds will not break".. Seriously.. Wtf..

I don't know how the quality for the G37 exhausts are, nor do I care since I don't own one. Now I do own a 370Z with an ARK Type 2 exhaust, which from day one has been flawless. The fit and finish was superb, and the welds looked great. There was no scratches, scuffs ect.. on the product. The sound is second to none. Is ARK infailable? No of course not, so maybe they shipped out a crappy exhaust. It happens, sucks if you happen to get the mistake. Complaining about scratches on an exhaust hanger after you had already put the damn exhaust on is pointless... I could see taking exception to the welds as those are not purely cosmetic. If you get a crappy product, and this is for any product, contact the company, work with them, and send it back. Don't install it and start bitching. In my experience, and that of many others, ARK has a great exhaust.

I can see where FXRoar is coming from about the welds near the tips from the pictures. From the pictures it's not pleasant to look at. You can tell the welding was done by hand near the tips/muffler are. Maybe to make it stronger??? The welding on the muffler caps and flow pipes looks good. Maybe needs some polishing on the welds??

LMAO...gas cap.
Forums are for ppl to ask questions whenever they have a problem and for enthusiasts to get together and talk about there car. Vendors are kind of the perk of being on a forum, giving extra discounts and is a good way to create a relationship with vendors who specialize in that certain brand/car. Why do you think ppl post threads on DIY like oil and tranny fluid changes...so ppl who dont know can save money and do it themselves. You guys seriously need to calm down, it's the internet plus your messing with your rep on the forum with other memebers. I didnt know you never contacted ARK...probably should have done that first but regardless, the comments ARK made on their very first post were not the best. I was not worried about the scratches, that will not be seen, but the welds are what made me tell OP to return it. I have much faith in ARK, that is why I bought from them. I also like how their exhaust sounds. It makes sence that OP wanted to make a thread from recieving the package to installing to hopefully sound and dyno videos. He posted up and complained well before installing the exhaust. I don't agree that he still installed it but I guess in the end he didn't mind that much. If he is not having any issues with it and has no plans in returning it then GL to him but I would have call ARK and gotten a new exhaust. I don't think bashing ARK was EVER intended but other ppl started to make fairly unessessary comments about ARK. Only thing I said was that mine better be perfect and thats just because I shipped overseas to Guam and that wasn't very cheap. ***OP if there are no issues and you are not returning the exhaust plz go head and post up vids. Dyno results are not really nessessary, your not really getting much until you remove the cats. Like I said before, relax everyone...we are here to conversate yelltyping(whatever you call it) isnt going to do anything but make you look bad. I honestly laughed at all the "yelling" Last edited by destinyZ; 11-16-2010 at 05:33 AM. |
